Myrtle Beach Hotel

We are driving to Florida in August. We would like to stop in Myrtle Beach on the way down. We stayed at the Seawatch two years ago. We really loved it but are trying to keep the costs down. If anyone can reccomend a hotel/motel for an overnight stay that would be great.

Myrtle Beach Hotel

I am not sure you will be able to find an oceanfront room for one night because a lot of hotels want you to stay a min. of 3 or more days.We really like the Sea crest you could try them.

Activities for Little Ones

Hi, My husband will soon be attending a medical conference to be held at the Hilton Oceanfront resort and our young family is tagging along. I will be spending half the day alone with my 5 and 2-year old. Beside the water and bike paths, can you recommend any other daytime activities appropriate for my young children? Thank you.

Samina

Activities for Little Ones

There is an Art Cafe in Coligny Plaza that has pottery to bake and paint...Adventure Cove(mid-island) has game rooms and such for rainy days...There is a water park near South Forest Beach that has a slide, pools and mini golf....Sea Pines Forest Preserve is great for nature walks...Lawton Stables in Sea Pines has horse rides through the Forest Preserve.

ocean front motel

hi, i was looking for anyone that has stayed at the ocean front motel on north ocean blvd. i could not find any reviews. the prices are great since we need 3 or 4 rooms, but it is scary making that reservation with only their website information to go by. please help...thanks!!

ocean front motel

Is it just called ';the ocean front motel';? do you know what their website is?

ocean front motel

Yeah, that%26#39;s it%26#39;s name, I double checked. Their website is www.oceanfrontmotel.com Their street address is 510 north ocean blvd. thanks for any help you can give.

It%26#39;s one of the older properties just north of the Pavilion. Unless you%26#39;re a college kid or want to be kept awake until 3am by all the cruisers and motorcycles on the blvd. I wouldn%26#39;t stay here. You need to pick something several blocks farther north or south. Take a look at this one http://www.beachtrips.com and look at the rooms for the Magnolia building. We have stayed here many times and love it.

Would not at all recommend this hotel!

I stay here before it was ok for the money it has a good location I would stay here again I would recomend you check out Sandy Beach Resort meand My Familystayed here in march 2005 it was great it was by far the best place I have ever stayed in Myrtle Beach and I have visited Myrtle Beach for 15 years absoultey stay away from Emerald Shores Motel

  • TIdes Inn and Suite

Does anyone know how Tides Inn and Suite is??? Get back to me when you read this.. its right next to the pavilion

    TIdes Inn and Suite

Dude cancel reservation . Would you stay on Rivington street! Go to sea crest, coral beach resort, or sandy beach resort. Take my word for it. UNLESS YOUR REALLY SKANKY AND DONT CARE WHERE YOU STAY YOU SHOULD STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

    TIdes Inn and Suite

is it really that bad... i never been to myrtle beach.. i just want to close to the action.. i know the tides inn is close to the pavilion

    get back to me

Do you live in NYC ? Would you walk six blocks to stay somewhere nice? go to beachtrips.com and book a room. O r8 blocks to seacrest or 12 blocks to coral beach resort They have a sports bar, a comedy club, and live bands by the pool. you barely have to leave the hotel. Be smart not lazy and stay somewhere nice. You have to be careful in myrtle beach alot of hotels are dirty dumps. these are decent and affordable.

I forgot Magnolia building at Sandy beach resort.

NEED A two bedroom with FULL KITCHEN within walking...

HELP!!!!!! I have reservations at the landmark, camelot, and the caribbean. i need a clean two bedroom with full kitchen. my baby plays in the floor all the time so it has to be clean. i don%26#39;t know which one to pick, if any of these. can anyone give me advice or another suggestion.

NEED A two bedroom with FULL KITCHEN within walking...

Try sandy beach resort magnolia building or carribbean resort is very clean dont go to Landmark!

NEED A two bedroom with FULL KITCHEN within walking...

    The Breakers

    The Bluewater is very nice.

We have reservations at the Roxanne Towers for next week. From what I%26#39;ve heard and from reviews I%26#39;ve read it is a nice hotel. It%26#39;s also fairly new. Opened Sept 2004. It doesn%26#39;t have as many ';frills'; as some of the others but it has enough. All the rooms are ocean front and they have a studio, 1 bedroom %26amp; 2 bedroom. The 1 %26amp; 2 bedrooms all have a full kitchen with dish washer and a washer and dryer. It is within walking distance to everything and the staff has been nice to deal with already. Good luck!

Sandy Beach Resort is the place you need to stay this the best and clean place we have found after 15 years going to myrtle beach

Definately look at the Sandy Beach- Magnolia Building. We love it here.

    Crown Reef Resort

I recently booked a room at the Crown Reef Resort and, since booking, have read nothing but bad things about the room. Are they that bad???

    Crown Reef Resort

We%26#39;ve stayed at the Crown Reef three times. In 96 and 97, the hotel was fairly new and very nice. We stayed there last summer and it has gone downhill. The pool area and outside areas are rundown. Tiles missing in the lazy river. They left the old non-working fridges and ac units in the parking garage so that we walked by them everytime we left or came back. They were just an eyesore. Check in was a nightmare. After driving for 12 hours through a hurricane, we had to wait over an hour and a half to check in. To top that all off, the first night the fire alarm went off three times in the middle of the night, false alarm thank God!! But it scared me to death!! Of course, no compensation for the inconvenience. The kitchen was dirty. I had to wash the drain board out before I could use it. It had Kool Aid or juice from the previous tenants as well as sand on the floor and the tub. It also had a funky smell. We went to Walmart and bought candles so that the room would smell better. We will not be going back there. We are trying the Dayton House this year. Hope this helps.

    What'd going on this month??

I%26#39;m staying from this week, til around the 20th. I%26#39;ve been to MB lots of times, so I%26#39;ve seen this, done that. Anyone suggest something new? Any festivals or events in North Myrtle that a loyal MB-goer would still have fun at?

    What'd going on this month??

I have a question how do you get them things beside of your names??? Well if you go to your search box and type in what your question in it should tell you somethings

    What'd going on this month??

There is a winery in Little River, La Belle Amie Vineyard %26amp; Winery, that is something different to try if you enjoy wine. They have different events, wine tastings, live music etc.

The winery is great! June !8th is thier annual music fest.

You could go to www.myrtlebeachinfo.com for a printable events calander

If you haven%26#39;t been to The Carolina Opry before I would suggest that. Also check out any concerts at The House of Blues and absolutely go to La Belle Aime in Little River. Beautiful area. I used to manage the apartment complex across from there. Have fun.

    bermuda sands resort

We are booked at this motel in July. We have a small dog so we had to take whatever we could find that was on the beach.

Has anyone got any info on this place?

    bermuda sands resort

I actually just got back from the beach 4 days ago. Me %26amp; my boyfriend stayed at this hotel while we were down there. The staff is nice and our rooms were good. I like tha lazy river cause it was warm, the only problems are is the elevator stinks, tha floors are dirty..I didnt even wanna be barefoot on it ID RATHER BE BAREFOOT ON THE STREET!!! And the indoor pool just smells like a big ball of chlorine. I have been sick for the past couple of days,REALLY bad. I dont know if it had anything to do with the hotel or not. THere are good things about this place %26amp; bad things.

    North Myrtle....

Hi. I just booked a double queen oceanfront online with Grand Shores. It seems to be a good deal and a nice hotel. Has anyone stayed in the hotel area recently? What did you think? What kind of amenities do they provide, like breakfast, daily maid service, etc? Also, what restaurants and activities are nearby? I have a 16 year old girl, 9 year old son, and 7 year old daughter. I%26#39;m sure they will want more entertainment than sun, sand, and a hotel bed. :) Thanks!

p.s. I remember staying at the Beach Colony 8 years ago and lugging my infant son%26#39;s paraphanalia to the 26th floor. Won%26#39;t do something like that again!

    North Myrtle....

    Twizzlermom,

We are currently staying at the Grand Shores and we love it. We are in a two room ocean front suite. It is very clean, maids are thorough and polite, and the pools are great. There are two pools - ground floor and 7th floor. Both areas have several hot tubs and floating pools. There%26#39;s a nice playground, beach area is nice, and it is relatively close to everything. I have a 17 and 6 year old, and there are plenty of things to do. We also have free internet hook up, as we brought our laptop down. There%26#39;s a safe in the suites, but I don%26#39;t know about the other rooms. Hope this was helpful. We too are from Ohio - Middletown, but the 11 hour trip was worth it. Hope you enjoy your stay. P.S. There are 3 elevators and a parking garage!

    North Myrtle....

I just go back from staying at the Grand Shores and I loved it the maids were very I mean very polite and everything was nice I am going back in 36 days to stay at Beach Colony and I am looking foward to it!!!

Thanks to both of you for replying. I was getting worried about my choice, but now I feel better. I%26#39;m looking forward to our trip next month. :) Any restaurants close by or anything else you feel that is worth mentioning? Thanks again!!

PS I%26#39;m glad I reserved my room about a week ago. I just checked through trip advisor and there aren%26#39;t ANY rooms left. I was kind of hoping to upgrade to a suite...but oh well. We%26#39;re only sleeping there. Anyone ever stay there in their ';spacious'; oceanfront rooms with two queens? There are five in our group and I wonder if we%26#39;ll have enough room. I did get a roll away. Thanks! :) The room was $131 a night through Expedia.

I booked about 2 months ago and got a 1 bedroom condo (1 king bed, with a quen pullout sofa and murphy bed) for $139 a night, I to was wondering about the hotel most of the research I came up with was positive, but would love to see more pictures of the place. We are going to be down there the week after next June 20-25, any idea what to exspect as far as weather, so far it looks like it will be raining alot?

  • Sea Watch

Has anyone stayed at the Sea Watch recently?

    Sea Watch

I have never stayed been but I have been on the property and it is really beautiful...They have a really nice pool area and lazy river.

    Sea Watch

    Thanks mom4!

We have been staying at the Sea Watch for the last 5 years and absolutely love it! Awesome views of the Atlantic, great pools, lazy rivers and a most helpful staff. We wouldn%26#39;t think of staying anywhere else. It is also in a less populous area, with a nature preserve down the beach, so the crowds aren%26#39;t as heavy as in other areas of Myrtle Beach.

    new marriott

has anyone stayed at the new marriott in columbia?

supposed to have opened in February. we are traveling to columbia and have lots of marriot points......thanks.

Haven%26#39;t been there, but here%26#39;s a link to an article that talks about the recent renovations. It sounds nice.

    new marriott

I stayed here last week. Nice place, new everything. Restaurat is currently being renonvated but there is a nice area in the atrium that is being used instead.

I would give it four stars.

Big improvement over Adam%26#39;s Mark. I attended a seminar there and the food and facilities were great. Try beef dishes. Very tasty. Had great tomato with mozzarella salad. Hotel is bright and attractive.

    Caribean Resort?

We finally decided on a hotel.. we are going to stay at the Caribean Resort... We are thinking of an efficiency room but we have been reading the reviews on the suites? anyone stayed in the efficiency? are they just as nice as the suites??

    Caribean Resort?

we stayed last week. if you have kids, there%26#39;s plenty of water fun and a game room. we stayed in the suite. i wasn%26#39;t too impressed with the worn out room. i posted my review this evening. parking is across the street. we ate breakfast buffet 2x at sea captains next door. $6.95 for adults %26amp; $2.95 for kids. the crowd seems a little seedier closer to downtown. i felt like i was a spring break. you%26#39;ll still have a good time though between the beach %26amp; pool area. make sure to go to broadway at the beach which is 5 min from the hotel. housekeeping was extremely friendy %26amp; staff always smiling. check-in between 2 %26amp; 3pm might be chaotic. it such a big hotel. we go every year to mrtle. i%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll be fine in the efficiency-you%26#39;re only in the room to sleep after spending the whole day outside anyways. hope some of this was informative.

    Caribean Resort?

We stayed at Caribbean Resort about 3 years ago.. The room we had was spotless (and I am fussy about these things) however the crowd was noisy and kind of rowdy, at night (our room faced pool) it was very loud, kids around (I would say the spring break type of crowd you know that age group) anyway it was loud and in the morning there was beer bottles around, and junk in lazy river. In the indoor pool area there were children running around unsupervised.

Best Place for a Family Vacation in MB

    Hi!

This is my family%26#39;s first real vacation. I%26#39;ve got 4 young children and we%26#39;d like a nice family resort. We%26#39;d like to be somewhat close to The Pavilion or Family Kingdom. And it has to be oceanfront. Some of the properties I%26#39;ve looked at so far are

    Holiday Sands North and South

    The Reef Resort

    Sandcastle Resort at the Pavilion

    Tropical Seas

    Sea Mist Oceanfront resort

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

Best Place for a Family Vacation in MB

Hi Kathy,I believe the ones you mention do not get that good of reviews.I have been going to MB for 10 years now.If I had to pick one that is listed I would pick Sea mist.Your kids will love it and make sure you get the package deal. They will like it as much as disney. They have a nice waterpark and are close to Family Kingdom. They have so much there on the property you do not have to leave unless you want to.It is a great budget vacation. The rooms are not that great but ask for a renovated one.You are not in the room that much anyway.

Best Place for a Family Vacation in MB

    Thanks sweetiepie,

I%26#39;ve seen on some other websites that the Sea Mist has a lot of teens there staying and they%26#39;re a bit rowdy. Is that true ? I have younger children and want them to be comfortable where ever we stay without having to worry about being trampled on.

    Thanks for you suggestions,

    Kathy

This resort is very family friendly.Just do not excepect the ritz ,make sure you get a newly renovated room. they have great programs and activites for the kids. They have their own waterpark,putt-putt,castle playground, kids magic shows, parties for the kids, pizza and icecream shop, and do family grill outs 2 to 3 nights a week.I am not sure where you heard this place is rowdy, but maybe that was during Spring Break or senior Trip weeks.

The Sea Mist is very Family friendly and our kids loved the water park and the kiddie pool. I was unhappy with the cleanliness of our room, and the fact that my husband and I could not both sit on the balcony comfortably. I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

Thanks for all your help. I really do appreciate it.

I%26#39;m narrowing my choices down. I didn%26#39;t think planning a vacation would be so difficult. I%26#39;m starting to feel like hotel research is my fulltime job. lol

    Kathy

    Hi Kathy,

I know this wasn锟斤拷锟絫 on your list of hotels but, have you looked into Dayton House? It锟斤拷锟絪 my family锟斤拷锟絪 first real vacation this year too and I was doing tons of research for weeks and we finally decided to go with Dayton House. We picked it because it sounds family friendly, it锟斤拷锟絪 in our price range and close to a lot of things. If you stay 5 or more nights the rates are lower. You can also go with one of their packages. They say they don锟斤拷锟絫 allow anyone 21 or younger to stay unless they are with a parent. It has an oceanfront zero depth pool a lazy river and other pools. Our room will be an oceanfront efficiency. They also have a nice lawn with umbrellas. You can check their website at www.daytonhouse.com.

Be sure to check out websites to any attractions you might go and see锟斤拷锟絫hey usually will have printable coupons! : ) Some restaurants will have coupons you can print from their websites also.

I have searched on these websites and found them to be helpful锟斤拷锟?.

Hello you need to stay at Sandy beach resort it across the street from the family kingdom and about two blocks from pavilon and it is agreat place to stay

The Dayton House is wonderful, we just got back from a week there. Our 18 month old had a blast.

Hello! I noticed on your list of potential hotels you included Holiday Sands North. I have reservations there for the first week of August. I have never stayed there, but I have read favorable reviews from various sources. I think it is in a great location. 2nd avenue pier is practically right next door and they have this big fireworks display every Wednesday night @ 10:00 during the summer, so that is a plus. Good luck with your search!

  • Hows is the weekend after the July 4

I have book a hotel at the Tides for the July 7 to the 10.

Is there going to be alot of people there?

Hows is the weekend after the July 4

Myrtle Beach stays crowded most of the summer. I%26#39;m not familiar with the Tides hotel but if it is right downtown it will be very crowded.

Hows is the weekend after the July 4

Hello! I had to answer this question! That weekend is the most busy weekend of the entire summer! There will not be any empty hotel rooms anywhere, even the ones full of bugs with no air conditioning will be booked solid! However Myrtle Beach is a big place with lots of everything and as long as you expect traffic and crowds you will be O.K. Compared to NYC it will be a piece of cake. One suggestion, as you approach Myrtle Beach about 30 to 40 miles out if you can avoid arriving between about 2:30PM to 7:00PM you will drive right in. During the times I have listed you can walk faster than the traffic will be moving and at about 110 degrees on the highway (the AC has a tough time sitting still) it makes for a long afternoon! The opposite is true when you leave, be on the road by no later than 9:00AM or after about 3:00PM once you get about 40 miles away from the beach the traffic will at least be moving. The last week of June and the first two weeks of July(reflected in the hotel rates) are like this the rest of the year is not nearly as bad traffic wise. If you like to people watch you will have a ball! Have fun!

Hi we went to MB last year on the 4TH and to my suprise it wasn%26#39;t that bad if you can get over all the people on the beach letting off fireworks, the traffic was murder though this yr we are staying from July 2-9 and rented a condo on arrowhead rd. that way we can be away from the crowd when we want.

We stayed in MB last year. This year we have a deluxe angle efficiency oceanfront view room at Captains Quarters. I have heard they have been renovated. Do you know if that is true?

What is there to do with 2 teenage girls. We have done the amusement park, go-carts, beach, waterpark and mini-golf. Is there anything else? Is there anything fun to do in Murrell%26#39;s Inlet or Pawleys Island?

Captains Quarters / things for teenager to do

We had(for 30 mins) an angle oceanfront suite that had not been renovated. Ask for a handicap room if you want to make sure it%26#39;s been redone.

Take them to see The Carolina Opry in North Myrtle Beach if you haven%26#39;t done so. They will enjoy that.

    polynesian resort

Is this a good motel to stay at for 7 nights

    polynesian resort

Recently read a review that complained of bed bugs!

    polynesian resort

I stayed at the Polynesian about two years ago, and it was fantastic. We really had a great time...stayed 4 or 5 nights I believe. I remember the room and bathroom being nicely sized. In fact, I wish we would have stayed at the Polynesian this year instead of Court Capri!

Hotel/B&B recommendations for a romantic weekend?

Our first trip to Myrtle Beach - just staying for a long weekend, not a full week. Looking for a decent hotel or bed %26amp; breakfast on the beach that doesn%26#39;t ';break the bank';. Hotel doesn%26#39;t need to have a lot of activities for us. Besides access to the beach, would be looking for good parking for our car, a nice swimming pool, a decent bed with clean linens, a/c, and possibly a mini fridge that we can stock. Anyone have any suggestions!

Hotel/B%26amp;B recommendations for a romantic weekend?

Try the Litchfield Inn. Litchfield is about 20 minutes south of the main area of MB. Close to Murrell%26#39;s Inlet where there are many good restaurants.

Hotel/B%26amp;B recommendations for a romantic weekend?

I concur that the Litchfield area is the best for what you described.

The Yacthzmann....my aunt %26amp; uncle booked a honeymoon suite there (me %26amp; my cousin were staying at another hotel) but their room was AWESOME....they were on the 17th floor and one whole wall was tinted (safety) glass so you could see the ocean for miles...room also has ';spot lights'; and two mirror walls!! Also very nice large kitchen, and a great (comfortable) balcony. Room also had a sofa and a very nice lounge chair, a whirlpool spa tub, and tv with VCR. The pool and hot tubs were fantastic. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway!!

Which hotel? Radisson Plaza, Sea Crest, Breakers, LongBay...

I have been looking online at several hotels. Have teenagers and a 9 year old. Would like to stay where the action is.

Looking at Sea Crest, Breakers, Best Western Grand Strand Inn, LongBay, Radisson Plaza, Roxanne Towers.

Would like something nice.. under $200 a night. Pools, maybe lazy river.

Has anyone stayed at Radisson. I know it is 2 blocks from beach, does it matter? The room I am looking is in the executive suite..room offers nice amenities. But, is the room worth sacrificing location?? I do like to stay on the beach.??? help!!

    Please!

Which hotel? Radisson Plaza, Sea Crest, Breakers, LongBay...

I would take a look at Caribbean Resort and Villa. My neighbor stays there every year and simply raves about it. Pools, two lazy rivers (inside and out)...a classy place...we booked a suite ourselves for August. Good luck.

Which hotel? Radisson Plaza, Sea Crest, Breakers, LongBay...

I was also looking at Sea Crest, but chose Sea Mist. My kids are younger and I need lots to keep them occupied.

I think Sea Crest gets good reviews as well as Carribbean. I%26#39;m not familiar with the Radisson.

I also was looking at Coral Beach, which I have heard good things about, but we chose Sea Mist.

    Good luck.

The Caribbean only has 1 lazy river, and it is outside. They do have an indoor pool and two indoor hot tubs, along with an outdoor pool and hot tubs.

Just got back from MB and stayed right next to Breakers...it looks very nice!!

These are all nice hotels depends on what location your looking for. Sea crest, Breakers, Roxanne towers are all close to the action. Best western grandsrand is south of the action and I beliieve Long bay is north of the action.

Have you considered renting a condo directly from the owner as opposed to a hotel? Many times you can get much more for the same $$ or even less. There are lots of sites dedicated to just rentals by owners.

    Parking at Holiday Sands North

I made reservations earlier this week at Holiday Sands North for the first week of August. I have read some very unfavorable reviews about parking at this hotel. Is it going to be a nightmare to find a parking place there? If you can confirm this please let me know. Thanks!

Stayed there last august never had a problem. but their parking is across the street not on site. Also they have metered parking between the Two buildings.

I dont know what your looking for in a hotel is this a resort? no.It is older but clean, nice location near everything. And good prices ask for south building definately the better of the two. Hope this helps. I decided to stay at sandy beach resort up the block but newer.www.beachtrips.com magnolia building.

    sandcastle at the pavilion

We will be staying at the Sandcastle at the pavilion the last week of July has anybody stayed there and liked it or do I need to change my reservations. Need with in walking distance of the pavilion have two teens.

    sandcastle at the pavilion

I would switch to Sandy beach resort, much nicer and close to pavillion.www.beachtrips.com

    sandcastle at the pavilion

Do you know how far it is from the pavilion

I think Sandy Beach Resort is within walking distance of the pavilion. I don%26#39;t know exactly how many blocks, but it shouldn%26#39;t be too far. I know that it%26#39;s only about 1 block from the Family Kingdom amusement park, which is just south of the pavilion amusement park on Ocean Blvd.

Six blocks very walkable.I have Three teens going and I picked this over alot of really nice hotels because its nice, clean and the great walkable location to all downtown attractions. plus its south enough not to be in a scary section of town.

Cheap Motels for family of 5

There will be 5 people in my party, we have no idea where to stay.

Cheap Motels for family of 5

Go to GMAC Elliot realty and look at their condos and houses. YOu have to provide your own sheets and towels but generally the rooms are cheaper and it%26#39;s easy to see what they look like.

Cheap Motels for family of 5

Try Springmaid beach resort, reasonable rates, located southern endof beach, next to state park, they have own fishing pier, pools and lazy rivers. The quiet end of myrtle beach

    thank you

You can try www.redweek.com ... people list timeshare rentals they can%26#39;t use .. you can get some good rates if you try

    Thank you

I reserved a room at the Dayton house which has gotten some good reviews and they have good rates. They also offer a discount at certain times of the year if you stay longer than 5 nights. Good Luck!

    thanks

Try the Viking Oceanfront Motel or the Affordable Family Resort. Viking is smaller but ocean front outdoor pool and kiddie pool cheap and very clean. Affordable is more expensive but rooms are all suites and they have 3 waterslides on site plus huge playground kids activity pool with slide, water umbrella and waterbuckets. Outdoor adult pool 3-8 ft deep. Located across the street from ocean. Both are great places for a family of 5. Check them out on internet.

thanks i%26#39;m looking at viking now

    Schooner Pride boat tours??

Will be in Charlestown in July...has anyone sailed Schooner Pride??

    Schooner Pride boat tours??

My husband and his business group used it recently....he said it was fine.

    Schooner Pride boat tours??

I haven%26#39;t been on the Schooner tour, but just last weekend I was on the Palmetto Breeze through Aqau-Safaris. We sailed on a beautiful catamaran with a friendley crew. For $25 we had a 2 hour tour, sodas and water. We brought our own wine and beer and had a blast! What a remarkable view of the bridges! As a Charleston resident, this is my favorite tourist event.

We stayed at the Dayton House the first week of June. Nice and clean, everyone was very friendly. It seemed to be all families and couples(older and younger). Very lowkey.

  • Need some advice on Sea Crest, Breakers, Long Bay... Help!

I need some real honest advice about Sea Crest, Breakers, and Long Bay. I want to make reservations as soon as possible as we would like to go away at the end of June.. Yikes.. so soon. I have been investigating MB for awhile.. Decided not to go, but now it is back on again..

Please give me some advice on which hotel is the best for a family of 5... 2 teenagers (17 %26amp; 19) and a 9 year old.

Would like to be on the beach.. want nice water amenities and nice room.

I was also looking at Best Western Grand Strand as some have suggested.. but the pictures of the hotel make it look small and dumpy.

I also have been looking at the Radisson, but it is not on the beach.

    Help! Please!!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance!

Need some advice on Sea Crest, Breakers, Long Bay... Help!

I usually always stay at the sea crest. We love it.It is close to everything.Your older boys will love being close to the action and Family Kingdom amusement park.I think your 9 year old will be thrilled with all the pools, lazy river, and the beach there. If you and your husband like to have a drink by the pool this is the place. They have a nice dj there.Let me know if you have any specfic questions. The rooms are clean and nice.

Need some advice on Sea Crest, Breakers, Long Bay... Help!

We%26#39;re only 4 1/2 hrs from Myrtle so we frequent it several times a year. I would suggest the Breakers (Paradise Tower) is the newest (we stayed there at New Yrs) it also has lots of pools, a pirates ship that has water shooting out and is close to pier 14 %26amp; the rides. We also stayed at the Camelot last yr and are going back in Aug same area, clean %26amp; nice. The Roxanne is new but I%26#39;ve read it%26#39;s going downhill quick - same area but not much pool stuff. I%26#39;ve heard the Patricia Grand has upgraded we%26#39;ve stayed there several times but started to go downhill - lots of pool but not in an area for teens to walk to stuff. Only other suggestion is the Ocean Dunes/Sand Dunes - it is in another area but lots of water activities and has always been nice when we went. Good luck you are pushing it with time.

    Hurricane season?

Hi there, we are planning to be in Myrtle Beach Aug 26 - Sept 2. We are using hotel points and that is the only time we could get a room. Do we need to be really concerned with hurricanes and tropical storms? I know no one knows the exact time they will hit, but we are coming all the way from Washington State and if there is a good chance for rain and storms maybe we should rethink our vacation.

    Hurricane season?

Dont think about it yet.. We are going same week and we have fled two hurricanes from Myrtle Beach... We have been going to Myrtle Beach for 11 years and only had to flee 2 times. Once and we were able to come back after 2 days and another time one day early. You never know which way the hurricane is going to go.. it could fizzle out...

    Hurricane season?

I would come on. Millions of people go to MB each year and have for decades. Many places have hurricane refund policies- check with your lodging and see. There%26#39;s a greater chance there WON%26#39;T be a storm than there will be one. Have fun. Best wishes.

What do you do if you have to flee.....look for another hotel in a safer area?? We aren%26#39;t within drving distance of home.

Happy faces..You should plan to leave MB once they announce voluntary evacuation,so if they (meaning the officals) announce this you want to call ahead and book a hotel inland. This way you can stay at a hotel inland and when the storm is over you can come back. Make sure your vehicle%26#39;s gas tank is full. Another thing is schools also let you stay there however if you have a pet with you they don%26#39;t accept them (I believe). You just have to ride the storm out. Please dont focus on this hurricane stuff it could make you crazy.. I know I know I do the same thing. We are going down the week of August 21st to the 27th... I think that is the same week as you...we can worry together...LOL

    Sorry to disagree folks.....

If you have any other options outside of the hurricane belt, especially if you are travelling with children, I would start thinking about alternatives. I think if you are already anxious and that distance from home, it might be best to make other plans as September is usually the worst month for storms.

It all depends on how much you really want to visit Myrtle Beach but if it%26#39;s points like Marriot, you could probably still choose another vacation spot.

Hurricane season is from June 1st to November every year. Thousands and thousands of people go to MB during that time. The chances of MB being in the direct path of a hit is very slim. There are probably those that will argue about it, but while it could happen, but it probably won%26#39;t. I wouldn%26#39;t worry about it.

A hurricane can pass fairly close to the coast and the only result will be somewhat higher waves and more breeze. We have had some pass 50 miles off shore, and we don%26#39;t even get rain. It just depends so much on the conditions, temperature, etc on that particular day. Also, how big the circulation is. There are sooooo many varibles.

Thunderstorms are not much problem as they usually last only an hour or two. It%26#39;s not smart to go in the water if it is lightning, but other than that, it%26#39;s rather neat to watch a storm coming in from the ocean. As soon as it passes, it%26#39;s OK to go back down to the beach and enjoy the waves.

While no one can tell exactly when one can hit, you can pretty much figure that if it%26#39;s waaaayyyy out in the Atlantic and traveling at 10 miles an hour, it will take a week or more to get somewhere along the coast, and that would most likely be Florida. The ones that start up in the Caribean, or low in the Atlantic, seldom cause any problem to the coast around MB. they tend to go into the Gulf of Mexico.

I would go and not worry about it. My family is going to MB Sept 3- Sept 10 and I am not concerned. I was on vacation at Carillon Beach (near Panama City) last year as Frances came through. There was at one point a hurricane warning for the aera, but no mandatory evacuations were issued. So, we stayed put and weathered the storm so to speak. Only a day or two of bad weather and all was fine.

Plus, the paths of those things can change from day to day- at one point Frances was headed straight for where we were, then it moved over a little. It also makes a difference which side of the storm you are on, east or west (Idon%26#39;t remember which is worse). My point is, you never know and there%26#39;s no use worrying about it now. I know you%26#39;ll be a long way from home, but will be about 8-10 hours from home myself when I%26#39;m there-at that point, distance doesn%26#39;t matter as much- you%26#39;d still have to drive a long way to flee. It%26#39;s kind of like getting wet- once you%26#39;re wet, you%26#39;re wet- you can%26#39;t get more wet. (sorry, bad analogy) Just go and have fun!

(if one does hit MB while I%26#39;m on vacation this year, that will be two to follow me to two different places two years in a row. so, I%26#39;ll tell everyone where I%26#39;m going next year so they can avoid it!)

After 15+ years of vacationing @ MB, last year was the 1st time we had to evacuate. As it was mandatory evacuation announced by Governor, we recieved a FULL refund when checking out. Mom4Boys post is excellent advice. When/if a storm was coming, find a hotel inland(there are many) and book a room. We were going to stay and ride out the storm and when told we had to leave we couldn%26#39;t find anywhere within 50 miles. But again, the chance of a storm hitting are not worth ruining your trip.

Things to do in the Rain?

We are going to be down in MB next week (6/20-25) and so far it looks like it is going to be raining most of the time. What are some good things to do in the event of rain?

Things to do in the Rain?

Okay I dont know if you have children or your interests but here are a few suggestios: Imax Theatre at Broadway At the Beach, you could walk around there with umbrellas as there is shopping and dining, Outlet Malls there are dinner shows, Dixie Stampede, Medieval Times, Alabama Theatre..There is alot to do... We had days of rain and we always have fun.. Who knows, it could be sunny all week for you...Good Luck..

    palace resort

Planning on going to Myrtle Beach in Aug. and staying at the Palace anyone been there if so how was it??????????

    palace resort

Checked in about 6/7 years ago and checked out about an hour later. Condo was gross and waited with a large crowd trying to get in the elevators. It was a mess!! Pitched a fit with the ';front desk'; people and was given our money back after showing them the very damaged and dirty unit. Hope it is better now but would never take the chance again.

    palace resort

    Hey there!

I have stayed at The Palace on 2 differnt occasions in the past 6 months. The 2 bedroom condo was GREAT!! A+++ in fact we are going back and want that same room. Then we booked a single room unit as a last minute trip.. and it was a little motelish. No personality ~ clean but not great. I would make sure you got a room that is atleast about floor 4. Other than that.. we liked that Palace. The pool area was nice and clean. The sevice was great. The little food bar was convienent. Their ';indoor'; pool is a little odd... but other than that... I would say ENJOY!

Please dont stay there. My family and I stayed from june 4th to June 11th. Worst vacation ever. The room was filthy dirty. Hair all over the bathroom floor and blankets. Recently used sheets in closet. Kitchen floor was dirty, crumbs all over it. I had a hell of a time getting someone to listen to me. I left messages for Greg Williams who rented it to us. He never called back. I finally got him on the phone and he asked me why i waited to call the second day i was there. That really made me mad! I advised mr williams that i did call and leave messges for him to call me. Also we did not know we had to go across Ocean Blvd to the main office to take our dirty towels and exchange them for clean ones. There was a maid coming about every day while we were gone and taking our towels. They advised me it wasnt their maid and i couldnt have any more towels. Ocean Blvd is a very busy street. Takes forever to get across. Also the elevators are the longest wait ever. When we were checking out it took 45 min to get an elevator. I bought $80 worth of cleaning supplies, blankets and bath mats so we could survive the week in this dump. And no one cared!! I makes me sick to think i paid them good money to stay there and they did this to my family. Never again!!

The Palace resort is a dump. You will be sorry if you rent any condos from Greg Williams. The worst vacation ever. I wasnt the only one not happy with my room. I met several families that were just as unhappy. You also wait forever for the elevator. If you need details let me know. I posted to another persons questions about the palace. Please read it. We just returned home on june 11th. Everything is fresh in my mind. I know I will never go there again.

    Vacation Certificate

My husband and I received a ';Free 2 day, 3 night '; vacation package thru the Schwans Company. When we made our reservations, they said we needed to put a $50 refundable fee on our credit card to hold the hotel. We are going to myrtle beach in July and will not know where we are staying until we arrive. Has anyone had any experience with this. If you read the reviews, you may want to keep looking. I personally don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s a dump, but it is an older property struggling with upkeep.

    Myrtle Beach in the winter

Are most of the shops, restaurants, shows, and golf courses open during the winter months in Myrtle Beach? We are thinking of a month or two in MB (with a pet) in lieu of FL. Thanks

    Myrtle Beach in the winter

Not as warm as fla. most resturants and shows are open year round. just waterparks and rides close down. if you look through the posts octavia has a list of pet friendly hotels. Also funbeaches.com has a pet frindly link.

    Myrtle Beach in the winter

Golf courses...dozens and dozens of them are open all year. there are a lot of warm sunny days that make walking on the beach delightful. There are also some miserable, gloomy, cold rainy days too. but generally speaking, especially if you are a golfer, it%26#39;s a prime time too go.

Thanks so much for the information. I%26#39;ll check out the web site that accesses pet friendly rentals. We%26#39;re thinking February and March.

MB is a great bargain in winter, and many budget-minded snow-birds spend part or all of their winters here. You can rent a beachfront hotel room, suite or condo for a month in Jan %26amp;/or Feb for what they would charge for five nights in peak season.

You will get a few weeks of cold weather (particularly when the NE states have a deep freeze), but most days will be in 50%26#39;s %26amp; even 60%26#39;s.

Depending on what part of town you stay in, many of the restaurants %26amp; stores close over the winter months, but some of the ones that are open often offer special discounts. Check the local newspapers (not just the free ones) for ';locals'; coupons.

    romantic 3 day weekend.

I am surprising my boyfriend (whose 24) and taking him to charleston for a 3 day weekend in July. I booked a reservation at the Planters Inn. I was wondering if anyone had advise on what to do. I plan a carriage ride, middleton place, and probably a trip to the beach. I want it to be very relaxing and romantic. I was thinking about a 2 hour kayaking trip and didn;t know if anyone has ever done that before? I also didn%26#39;t know if a historic house was a must do, and which one. Also, is a ghost tour worth it? Finally, where to shop and any parks in charleston worth seeing? Oh yeah, what about a horse back ride? Thanks. I also didn%26#39;t know if there was anything guys particularly like in charleston. Any advice would do as i have never been and am clueless!

    romantic 3 day weekend.

Wow, you sound like a keeper!

If I were 24 and in love, I%26#39;m not sure I%26#39;d want to go to Middleton Place. It%26#39;s a very nice place, but there are other places more interesting to younger people. I also would definitely research the kayak trip; where do you embark and return (is it near Charleston?). I ask this because if it%26#39;s somewhere like the Edisto River, you%26#39;ve just invested pretty much a whole day. Just make sure it%26#39;s not a big time killer.

Your other ideas sound fine - I like the carriage ride. You can also take a harbor cruise, which is wonderful on a nice day. One great thing about Charleston is that you can just get up and walk. There are so many beautiful houses, historical ones and just plain nice ones. There is the USS Yorktown, the Aquarium, the Battery, the market area - dozens of great places to see that won%26#39;t take up a lot of time. July is a great time for baseball and soccer, and we have two great teams here. And don%26#39;t forget the best food in the country!

Although you are from Orlando and know your heat, remember that Charleston is scorching in July, with extreme humidity and not a lot of breeze.

If you have any more specific questions, we%26#39;d love to try and answer them!

    romantic 3 day weekend.

My husband and I went on a ghost Tour on a trip to Charleston. We found it entertaining- a bit of fact, a bit of fiction. I would recommend it for sure.

My husband and I just returned from a few days in charleston....what an amazing city...you will have a blast!!

I would recommend a carriage ride, a harbor tour, time to shop in the market area and King street area and a walk down East Bay and Meeting streets to look at the beautiful historic homes. We had wonderful seafood at numerous restaurants. We would recommend skipping the ghost tours for something else.

    Have fun.

Sounds like you have some great ideas, try contactin www.aqua-safaris.com. I used them last weekend for a two hour sail in the harbour and it was GREAT! Nice vessel, take your own wine and beer, terrific crew. Well worth the $25 -- it%26#39;s called the Palmetto Breeze.

I say go for the carriage ride over the ghost tour, ghost tours are too unpredictable.

Be sure to visit one of our rooftopbars (Vendue, Market Place Pavillion, Rooftop at Marion Square).

All the shopping you need is on King Street (national chains) and on the Market (local things).

Go to the County Beach at Folly, there is always ample sand even during high tide, it%26#39;s worth the $5 parking fee. There are restrooms there too.

Go to eat at Five Loaves Cafe (one location at the corner of Cannon and Coming and another location in the Millenium Music Store at the corner of King and Calhoun.

    Enjoy!

82 Queen is a wonderful restaurant for a really romantic dinner in the courtyard.

Check with the concierge at the hotel about where to go to hear music. When I was attending the College of Charleston there were some really great places to check out music.

    Celebrating 1st anniversary in Charleston

I made reservations at the Charleston Grill but wanted to find out if the food/environment is worth the high prices. Is there another romantic restaurant that is recommended? Thanks in advance!

    Celebrating 1st anniversary in Charleston

Congratulations to you! My husband and I just got back from celebrating our anniversary there too. We ate at the Charleston Grill. I can easily say it is the best meal/dining experience I%26#39;ve had in years. Here is a review.

As soon as we got there, the hostess greeted us with a warm welcome and Happy Anniversary. We sat at a couples booth facing the atrium garden. Great view! First they will bring you a wine menu. I was a little intimidated(it is about 40 pages), but I selected a wine we really enjoyed for $35(one of the lowest priced-but very good). I think it was a Chenin Blanc and went nicely with my seafood.

They bring you a ';Chef%26#39;s treat'; throughout the meal. It may change every night. Ours started off with a gongorzola cheese puff. Then they came over to read us the specials. I got the salad starter. It had marinated porchinni mushrooms, maccadamia nuts and blue cheese. My husband got the Lobster/shrimp bisque. I bet there was half a lobster in it. The next ';treat'; they brought out was seared tuna. Then came our entrees. I had the crustacean platter and my husband had the filet and Kobe beef. For sides we ordered the cheese grits and corn. Excellent! Somehow they made corn one of the best things I%26#39;ve ever put into my mouth. Our dinners were both perfectly cooked and each flavor was better than the next. We did not order dessert, but they brought out a tray of homemade chocolates and pralines for us. The service was top notch. Our wine and water glasses were never empty. When we got to go to the restroom, our napkins were neatly folded again. Crumbs were swept from the table, etc.

We both agreed that it was worth the money and would go back again next time we are there. The atmosphere is beautiful with live music in the background. It is not stuffy though. We were dressed up but also saw some people in shorts and t-shirts. I hope you get to experience this too. I think our bill with tip was around $160?

We tried to get reservations at Roberts of Charleston a month in advance, but there was nothing available. I%26#39;ve heard great things about that place too. It is even more expensive than Charleston Grill though.

    Celebrating 1st anniversary in Charleston

Congratulations! My husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary in Charleston and are going back this summer again to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. We ate at 82 Queen and loved it. We had asked to sit outside and it was beautiful. They have the tables nested among the trees with white christmas lights on them. It was very romantic. The waiter was excellent, everything was always taken care of but he never bothered us. The wine list was large and the food was excellent. They did not rush us to finish even though they had a wait. We stayed almost 2 hours and are going back again in July. Have a great time!

  • Hotels near Seabrook Island

HELP. Can anyone out there tell me what the closest hotel is to Seabrook Island. Have friends coming up from Florida who want to stay at a hotel close to the island. Can%26#39;t seem to find anything within a half an hour. I understand there is something called the Santuary on Kiawah but that it is very expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hotels near Seabrook Island

    Hi Ginny!

There are no hotels near to Seabrook Island that I know of. The Sanctuary is incredibly expensive and I don%26#39;t even consider it an option.

That said, there are a few hotels within that 30 minute drive. The closest one I can think of is the Lands Inn, which is the first hotel in Charleston that one would encounter to if coming up Hwy 17 from Florida. After that, there are a lot of chain hotels, such as Econo Lodge, Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, etc. All of these are on the Western side of Charleston. There is also the Hampton in on Albermarle Dr, which is not far from the main way to Seabrook.

    Hope this helps!

    lodging advice please

will be travelling to Charleston soon and am deciding between Doubletree Suites and Holiday Inn Historic District. Want nice rooms and ';near history';. Any advice or other hotels in the area? Would like a spacious room (suite) and can%26#39;t afford too many $$$.

    lodging advice please

I%26#39;d say punt those chain hotels and instead stay in a B%26amp;B near the battery. There are hotels down there too but they%26#39;re expensive. Except for the lesser but still nice Francis Marion hotel which is available thru priceline (so may be that holiday inn)... check out charleston in biddingfortravel.com for priceline strategies and hotels used.

This time of year is stifling hot, yikes!

    North Myrtle Beach

    Hi,

We have narrowed our dates down to 6/22-6/26. I was thinking about Oceanside Villas in Surfside, but they only rent for a week. Does anyone know of a nice, clean, reasonably priced hotel with pool for a family of 6? (Children- 15, 14, 10, 7) Thanks for any help. We would like to stay where it is quiet, but within driving distance to the activities.

    Thanks again,

    Family6

Hot Wire 4-star hotel on Hilton Head

    HI,

Found a great rate on hotwire for a 4-star resort hotel

on Hilton Head for the last week in June. Any idea

as to which resort it could be? Thanks for the input.

Hot Wire 4-star hotel on Hilton Head

Based on the amenities listed and checking betterbidding.com I believe it is the Crowne Plaza. That is a great rate. If you are a first time hotwire costomer you will likely be able to get another $10 off per night with coupon code GIFTCARD06. There is also a $30 hotwire rebate in the Entertainment book. They are currently on sale for $9.99 + $5.00 shipping, so you can end up getting a net of $15 off.

You can often bid lower on priceline for the same period and beat hotwire%26#39;s price. It could be worth a shot.

Hotwire has an even lower rate for the period of 07/04/05-07/14/05, however the taxes and fees are quite a bit more for some reason. I booked during the later period and got the Westin (different amenities were shown for that period).

Hot Wire 4-star hotel on Hilton Head

I am also going to Hilton Head, the last week in June, 27 - 30. We go every year %26amp; the last 3 yrs bid on priceline. If you want to know what hotels typically come up, check out http://www.biddingfortravel.com . I have bid on priceline 8 times %26amp; have used this as a guide. Well, from the info they gave me on that forum, the rates usually go do down after the 4th of july for that week. I finally bid $100 %26amp; got the Crown Plaza. I am not sure how thrilled I am, but I am stuck. It is located in a very nice area, but not sure how this measures up tot eh westin %26amp; Marriott. In the past, I have gotten The Westin %26amp; Marriott. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. My husband and I are still

deciding and will let you know how it works out!

I just got a room at the Westin for three nights (June 12-15) for $75.00 per night on priceline.

I used hotwire and got the crowne plaze from june 18-june 21 for $72.00 per night. Im very excited. I will be posting a review when i return so stay tuned for info.

  • Help with Sand Dunes

I am very nervous. Going here in a few weeks and have read nothing but bad review after bad review. Alot of bad experiences are expecations set too high. Someone please honestly tell me what to expect... Thanks to anyone who can help.....

    Help with Sand Dunes

Check out post under waterparks. I was not impressed with the common areas when I walked thru the property. It was very dated and just not clean or well kept. I%26#39;m sure the unit you get depends on the owner.

    Help with Sand Dunes

Did you see todays new reviews ? I wouldnt stay there on a bet!!!!!!

I%26#39;ve not been to the Sand Dunes, but with my recent experience with the Captain%26#39;s Quarters... I%26#39;d say if the reviews make you nervous, pick a new place.

The people that think these places are clean are probably the same people that show up on the news with 60 cats living in their house using the living room floor as a litter box.

I can promise you my standards of clean are basic(you should see my desk). There are lots of great places to stay that deserve the business.

    Sharon...

I was down in MB for my annual golf trip in April and took the time to check out Sand Dunes because I%26#39;d booked it for August to bring my kids down.

Needless to say, I cancelled that reservation.

I was not impressedd with the cleanliness of the room I got to inspect (a Tower II suite). The property looks like it would be in extreme chaos as there are so many units and the recreation area so small.

I had chosen the Sand Dunes based on the kids program and some good reviews about it on the Internet.

However, when I toured the property, I got the feeling it was a concrete jungle. Like a multi-unit high-rise complex you%26#39;d find in the city.

Back to the Breakers where we%26#39;ve stayed each April for a dozen years.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

  • Ohio to MB

Has anyone went from Columbus OH to MB on any other roads beside the interstate. I get tired of always going interstates and wondered if there is any other good way to go.

    Ohio to MB

Hey Missed you over at our other hangout...Went to Baltimore yesterday...Talk to you later..

    Ohio to MB

just trying to get some more info on mb. did you have a nice time in baltimore. love eating in Little Italy

I did not go to the Little Italy port, we went to other one, I got a little sick, (stomach bug or something) had a good time otherwise, it did not really hit me until about 3:00 p.m. or so... As far as directions, could you hit google, and ask that way???

That did not come out the way I wanted it to... What I meant was I was looking for ways to travel to MB from Pa.. and I went on google and typed in driving from Pa 81 south to Myrtle Beach and it have directions, lots of different travel routes came up, I am probably confusing you I am trying to help.. LOL...See, that is why I took a bus to Inner Harbour...

thanks i will have to try that tomorrow - we just switched over to DSL yesterday and it has messed up our main computer. I can%26#39;t get on alot of sites including hotmail and google. My son has a computer in his room and has no trouble getting on anything. His computer is new so I%26#39;m not sure if that is why. While he is at work, I%26#39;ll go in there and google it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I%26#39;m so tired - i have been on this forum and funbeaches.com all day.

Hope you are feeling better - my husband came down with that 24 hour bug over memorial day. He NEVER gets sick so at first thought he had too many brats, beer at a cookout but he had a temp, chills, etc. Glad he kept it to himself.

    Talk to you later

I just made this drive from Columbus, why would you want less interstate? ;-) I would have liked more real roads in SC. We ended up taking 70-%26gt;77. Normally I would have taken 35-%26gt;64-%26gt;77 but there%26#39;s construction on 64 west of Charleston, WV. Good luck, I got directions off mapquest, google maps and a AAA triptik and ended up going with AAA(which is identical to the google directions). It seemed to me there%26#39;s no good way to get from here to there.

    Hello,

Not sure if this will help you or not but, I will do anything to avoid I-95 - the past few years we have taken 79 to 19 then picked up 77 - the trip seems easy - I have 3 kids and stay over nite in Hillsville, VA and complete the drive the next day - In thirty plus years of going to Myrtle Beach this has been the most enjoyable route...Hope it helps.
