I made reservations at the Charleston Grill but wanted to find out if the food/environment is worth the high prices. Is there another romantic restaurant that is recommended? Thanks in advance!
Celebrating 1st anniversary in CharlestonCongratulations to you! My husband and I just got back from celebrating our anniversary there too. We ate at the Charleston Grill. I can easily say it is the best meal/dining experience I%26#39;ve had in years. Here is a review.
As soon as we got there, the hostess greeted us with a warm welcome and Happy Anniversary. We sat at a couples booth facing the atrium garden. Great view! First they will bring you a wine menu. I was a little intimidated(it is about 40 pages), but I selected a wine we really enjoyed for $35(one of the lowest priced-but very good). I think it was a Chenin Blanc and went nicely with my seafood.
They bring you a ';Chef%26#39;s treat'; throughout the meal. It may change every night. Ours started off with a gongorzola cheese puff. Then they came over to read us the specials. I got the salad starter. It had marinated porchinni mushrooms, maccadamia nuts and blue cheese. My husband got the Lobster/shrimp bisque. I bet there was half a lobster in it. The next ';treat'; they brought out was seared tuna. Then came our entrees. I had the crustacean platter and my husband had the filet and Kobe beef. For sides we ordered the cheese grits and corn. Excellent! Somehow they made corn one of the best things I%26#39;ve ever put into my mouth. Our dinners were both perfectly cooked and each flavor was better than the next. We did not order dessert, but they brought out a tray of homemade chocolates and pralines for us. The service was top notch. Our wine and water glasses were never empty. When we got to go to the restroom, our napkins were neatly folded again. Crumbs were swept from the table, etc.
We both agreed that it was worth the money and would go back again next time we are there. The atmosphere is beautiful with live music in the background. It is not stuffy though. We were dressed up but also saw some people in shorts and t-shirts. I hope you get to experience this too. I think our bill with tip was around $160?
We tried to get reservations at Roberts of Charleston a month in advance, but there was nothing available. I%26#39;ve heard great things about that place too. It is even more expensive than Charleston Grill though.
Celebrating 1st anniversary in CharlestonCongratulations! My husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary in Charleston and are going back this summer again to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. We ate at 82 Queen and loved it. We had asked to sit outside and it was beautiful. They have the tables nested among the trees with white christmas lights on them. It was very romantic. The waiter was excellent, everything was always taken care of but he never bothered us. The wine list was large and the food was excellent. They did not rush us to finish even though they had a wait. We stayed almost 2 hours and are going back again in July. Have a great time!
