Cabana Shores

I am not a newcomer to Myrtle Beach but dislike high rise hotels and crowded beaches. Most the past few years I have stayed at the Pan American which is now under construction for new condos. I have made reservations for next week at the Cabana Shores. There was only one ';rating'; on this hotel and it was a fair one. Anyone else have any input on the hotel.

Thanks.

Cabana Shores

Alot of people on another website I go to really like this place. So I guess it must be pretty nice and its a quiet location.

Cabana Shores

Thank you, I went to that website and the Cabana Shores sounds like it fits my needs perfectly!

South Wind on the Ocean Condos

Anyone stayed there yet?

I%26#39;m looking for some pictures of the back of the facilities, beach area, etc.

How far is the building from the beach? Is it a long walk? Can you hear the ocean from the rooms?

I%26#39;ve seen their web site, but they don%26#39;t have much promo material or pictures around. (http://www.thesouthwind.com)

Thanks,

Bob

South Wind on the Ocean Condos

Bob,

We are staying there in a little over a week. I will write you when we get back and let you know the answers to your questions. I also feel the same way about the lack of information and am concerned a bit. Hopefully I will have good news for you when we get back.

South Wind on the Ocean Condos

Had my mom check this place out its a little north for my taste or I would definately stay there . She loved it and its brand new and very nice.

There is a Golden Corral in MB.It is good and good value.

There%26#39;s also a Cracker Barrell in North Myrtle Beach.

  • Long Bay Resort

I am considering booking a room at the Long Bay Resort in Myrtle Beach. I noticed that there is a considerable price difference between the North Ocean View Room and the South Ocean View Room. There must be some difference in the room other than the direction you are facing. Does anyone know what the difference is? Perhaps it is in an older section or a different building. I know I%26#39;m not willing to pay extra just to face North!

    Long Bay Resort

It doesn%26#39;t matter which way you face...it is a great property, we have stayed there several times. With the number of pools, hot tubs, game room, etc....and being right on the beach...does it really matter?

    Have a great trip!

    springmaid??

Hey I know I asked this question before... but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the springmaid? We are most likely going to stay in the palmetto dunes part.. anyone been there.. is it nice.. I know its a bit far from the excitment but it looks nice....

    springmaid??

my husband and I are staying here for our second time. We stay at the Live oaks building. Nice ocean views. The pools are nice and they have lazy rivers. They have their own fishing pier which is nice to walk out on at night. The beach is great. We like the location because it%26#39;s not near the busy part of town.Next door is the state park. The rooms have a micro and full size fridge with icemaker. We really enjoy staying there. Check out their website

    springmaid??

hey thanks for your response.. how are the rooms and the pools?? We have definately come to a dead end on deciding on a hotel to stay at we are both 24 and well all the nice places we would love to stay at ... wont allow anyone under 25..... hmmm.. the springmaid looks nice their website said that they recently renovated anyone been there since what are they like... like I said we are planning to stay in the Palmetto building so if anyone has any input PLEASE HELP!!!!

Like I wrote before, there is a lazy river pool, indoor pools and a nice outdoor pool near the walkway to the beach.Ithink the palmetto rooms are like the live oak rooms, nice size rooms.A variety of ages stay here. They also have a decent buffet restaurant. Murrells Inlet isn%26#39;t too far and there are good restaurants there.Springmaid is in a good area, a mini golf around the corner, and the state park at one end of their beach. You%26#39;ll enjoy your stay.

    When to go

We are planning a trip to Charleston and we were wondering when the best time of year to visit is? We were thinking of comming in the fall. Please let me know what you recommend!

    Thanks in advance

    When to go

Anytime of year is great but fall and spring are optimal for the temperatures alone. Summer can be scorching and winter can be cold. I think you%26#39;ll enjoy the fall - less crowded and better rates.

    When to go

Agreed. Even well into October it%26#39;s warm enough to go to the beach, but the muggy weather is history by then. Most days are sunny, dry, and clear with temps in the 70%26#39;s.

I%26#39;d have to recommend the spring not only because of the weather, but because the azaleas are in bloom and it is absolutely beautiful. Even if you aren%26#39;t interested in gardens you%26#39;ll love it! Try to visit Middleton Place Plantation just outside Charleston for an experience to remember. middletonplace.org

South Carolina in the spring is a treat for the senses, but the drawback to that is the mobs that descend on popular vacation areas. Big events in Charleston like Spoleto serve to drive both the numbers of visitors and the hotel prices higher. That%26#39;s part of why I cast my vote for fall.

We just got back from a trip there. Spoletto was going on. It was a big added bonus. We stayed at the Francis Marion and a huge art show was going on right across the street. The gardens are beautiful right now too. The drawback is that it is very hot right now. I didn%26#39;t mind too much. I just stopped alot for water or an italian ice(they have carts set up everywhere).

Late fall is a good time, I especially love Charleston from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Downtown is nicely decorated and the summer tourist crowds are gone. The weather is still temperate and rates at hotels during the week are usually reasonable. Come visit!

    Weahter in early December

I%26#39;ll be visiting Hilton Head in early December. How is the weather that time of year?

    Weahter in early December

It really varies from year to year. Could be 75 and sunny, and it could be 45 cold and rainy :-(

    leaving Sunday

vacation is finally arrived ,we leave Sunday and will be staying at the Jamacian Inn. I chose this place after reading the reviews and getting feedback here on the forums. I will let everone know how it was.

    leaving Sunday

Rolls..Have a great time.. and a safe trip..Have you ever been there before...

    leaving Sunday

No. This will be our first time to MB, We are planning to go to Myrtle Waves water park , Ripleys aquarium, and Dixie Stampede...any thoughts on these places?

Rolls..Been there done that several times...It is so much fun..You will have a great time. I am going to assume you have children going with you..I have 4 ages 15, 14,8 and 3 and they loved the Myrtle Waves and the Aquarium..We also did Nascar and one day it rained and we walked around the New Coastal Grande Mall, right near there is a restaurant called Sticky Fingers and we enjoyed that..also at Broadway At The Beach...Margaritaville was a blast..it was loud but so much fun. THe imax theatre is also fun thing to do an there is alot of minature golfing ...Also try Hamburger Joes if you get a chance it is across from Barefoot landing...The Pavilion Amusement Park was fun for the kids although the last time we were there it was about 4 years ago..We frequent MB every year for the past 10 years or so and we just love it there...Talk to you later.. if not.. have a great time..

    Rolls,

I have been going to MB with my family for 30 odd years...you will enjoy it. If you have the opportunity, the Carolina Opry is great. Dont%26#39; let traffic get you down, it can be heavy in the evening, especially around restaraunt row, so allow extra time if have reservations...have a great trip - my family will be heading doen the last week of July!!

Try to go down to Murrell%26#39;s Inlet one evening for dinner. 20 to 30 minutes south on Hwy 17. The Marsh Walk is nice to stroll after dinner. There are several restaurants, all have waterfront dining. If you go down that way you might want to visit Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park. There is an old castle, Atalaya, you can explore. Beautiful area. Have a great trip you will love our beaches :)

    Laguna Keyes

anyone stayed at Laguna Keyes yet? I will be there in September. Is it in a less crowded area? This is my first trip to Myrtle Beach- going with family, including my 3 year old daughter. Any suggestions from anyone about the best amusement park for her?

    Laguna Keyes

The Aquarium at Broadway would be a must see. Just south of Broadway is a Nascar park and I think they have some kiddie cars. PersonallyI think it could be overwhelming for a 3 year old.

Beaufort - is it worth the visit?

We will be going to HHI in July and I was wondering if Beaufort is worth the visit. What are some things to do / see there? What are some nice restaurants there that are worth dining at?

Beaufort - is it worth the visit?

Beaufort is beautiful. If you would like to see more if the historical lowcountry definitely make a day trip over to Beaufort. There are some great waterfront shops and restaurants.

Beaufort - is it worth the visit?

It%26#39;s a lovely spot to spend an hour or two browsing and have lunch but probably not enough to set aside a day. Cute shops and a very nice waterfront. We really enjoyed the fare at ';Plums'; restaurant on the water. Beaufort (pronounced like beau in ';beautiful';) made a nice stop on our way to Hunting Island State Park.

    what to pack?

We are staying at Sea Crest. I wanted to know if it is necessary to pack our own beach chairs and umbrella for the beach or can they be rented there?

    what to pack?

You can typically rent a beach umbrella that comes with 2 chairs/chaise lounges for the week or day - around $100/week. But it is worth it. Life gaurds typically have them all set up early AM and take them down in the late afternoon. I hope you have a great trip.

    what to pack?

is that true just at the sea crest or everyplace. we are staying at kingston plantation and i was wondering if i should buy an umbrella but $100/wk would be worth not having to haul everything down there.

We lug...it all 2 sand chairs, no beach umbrella though..may buy a new one when we get there..It is probably easier to rent but we have the rooftop carrier..anyhow, this year our rental person says she has everything we need at the condo in storage..so we will see..talk to you later..I over pack ..talk to you later H.A.T.

Hampton Inn %26amp; Suites Oceanfront (www.hamptoninnoceanfront.com)! A bit pricey but definately worth it. VERY clean rooms, friendly staff and you get a wonderful breakfast every morning. This is actually the #5 best Hampton Inn in the nation!

    Family Fun/Restaurants

Does anyone have any suggestions for good, reasonably priced food? Also, any suggestions as to which amusement parks or other entertainment would be best for my 3 year old daughter? Thanks for any help you can give!

    Family Fun/Restaurants

ryans steakhouse is great www.ryansrg.com 8.95 per person buffet and desert bar.

    Family Fun/Restaurants

I took a 2 and 6 year old to Thorny%26#39;s and we all enjoyed the food. Kids meals were under $5, and our meals were between $10 and $15. There is a play area for the kids, someone making balloon animals, a TV at every table, and the kids meals are served on a frisbee.

Family Kingdom park is probably the most kid friendly for that age but the Pavilion has a nice collection of rides too. Unless they have changed in the last few years both parks gave prizes to all the little ones when they played a carnival game.

Murrells Inlet has tons of good restaurants (especially for GREAT seafood). Also, Joes Crab Shack at Broadway at the Beach is a great kid-friendly restaurant. Ripley%26#39;s Aquarium (also at Broadway), which I strongly recommend, is great for children. The Dixie Stampede, which is dinner %26amp; a show, is a good idea and Myrtle Waves is a nice waterpark with a section for small children.

    Tattoo parlors

I know that it is illegal in SC to tattoo but does anyone know how far it is to the NC line and how far it is to a Tattoo parlor in NC from myrtle beach?

    Tattoo parlors

Calabash NC is about a 40 min ride from myrtle beach.

    Tattoo parlors

If you take 17 into Willmington NC. you will find several. This is about 50 miles north of Myrtle Beach. Go to www.superpages.com type in Willmington and tattoo parlors. I dont think your going to get anything closer.

I agree, there are also several great seafood restaurants in Calabash if you go!

Anyone gonig to be in Myrtle July 17-24th?

10 college students are riding down to Myrtle Beach to spend a week drinking beer and just having a good ole time..anyone gonig to be down there the same week we are...would be nice to get more into the party scene!!! Lemme know!!! We plan on staying at the best inn and suites because its cheap and they dont have many rules really.

Anyone gonig to be in Myrtle July 17-24th?

I hate to be a party pooper but I think some of that beer has lingered a little long. Do you realize you are posting this info on a public forum? Not very smart, friend. Think about it. People like you come to Myrtle Beach every year and we read about you in the obituaries. Have a good time, but think before you act.

Anyone gonig to be in Myrtle July 17-24th?

You say you are a college student looks like would be a more grown up thaN what you seem to be their is nothing wrong with drinking a beer but people like you spoil a trip for other people by yelling from the balcony or just getting drunk and runnig your mouth so to me a punk like you seem to be is just that a PUNK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    No its fine to assume that...I mean I am 21 yet I do have self control...I do not have ADD or am not an alcoholic...it is easy to to see other people act like that and say that I am gonig to be the same way...you can describe punk however you want but someone like myself who wants to have a few beers and enjoy my time with my friends on the beach should not be labeled a punk. We don%26#39;t plan on getting ripped by 1pm and reiking havoc on famiies with children! We are gonig there to get away from our jobs and families and just spend a week to relax...if you are gonig to discriminate because we are young then that is fine...but do not come at me like you know what the next move I am gonig to make...because you actually do not. I agree with you that at least half the PUNKS that do go down there my age are loud and annoying and when I see that I ask myself';Do I really want to be portrayed like that?';

I do not get why it is wrong to say I am gonig to go to the beach to have a beer? Is it illegal to drink in Myrtle if I am 21? Did they all of a suddden raise the drinking age to 25? When did this happen..must have been asleep.

Hey I am going to myrtle beach july 14- july 21 I would like to just tell you that I aint dicriminating you I am just saying that there are families down there with children and the children would like to have a fun and nice vacation without boys beside of them hollering and cussing because you are going to teach them bad things because you are going to a FAMILY ORIENTED place to drink beer? GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

    THANKYOU

Get a clue!! Let the kids have fun! If college kids can%26#39;t go to the beach and blow off some steam, what%26#39;s this world coming to? Maybe you would rather they make bombs in their garage and sharpen their shooting skills! We were 21 once!

You people seriously need to calm down! Myrtle Beach is thought of as being very family oriented, which it is, but there is another side to it just as there is anywhere. I know in Ohio, Myrtle is considered the place to go for ';senior trips'; and for college students during the summer. I%26#39;ve been down several times during the summer and there are always tons of young people out partying and having fun at night. I%26#39;m sorry if any of you have had bad experiences with college kids being loud and obnoxious but we锟斤拷锟絩e not all like that...at least not all the time. And, if you are that concerned with being around college kids partying then you should be staying in a hotel that won锟斤拷锟絫 allow people under 25 to get a room. Or, you should be staying in North Myrtle where it is much more family oriented than on 锟斤拷锟絫he strip锟斤拷锟?where all the kids hang out.

I don锟斤拷锟絫 usually reply when people make stupid comments about young people drinking, partying, getting tattoos and piercings, etc but it really gets old sometimes. The way I look at it, I锟斤拷锟絣l have plenty of time to settle down and be boring when I锟斤拷锟絤 older so I intend on having as much fun as I can right now, and my trip to Myrtle is on the top of that list.

    tattoos in myrtle beach

are there any tattoo shops in myrtle beach ? i%26#39;m not sure if its legal in south carolina . if there is can anybody give me some input ion which places are good .thanks

    tattoos in myrtle beach

Tattoo Shops are Illegal at Myrtle Beach.

    tattoos in myrtle beach

Yes, it is illegal in SC. Fantasy Ink in Calabash, NC is the place I would recommend!

north myrtle beach vs myrtle beach

Planning on visiting in summer with with 2 teenagers. Looking for 2 bedroom condo at a resort type complex on the beach with nice swimming pools that is close to area attractions. Please advise which area would better north myrtle or myrtle beach. thank you

north myrtle beach vs myrtle beach

As an adult I%26#39;d much prefer North Myrtle Beach, in the Ocean Drive section, it is more of a small beach town atmosphere, with my favorite beach music ';shag'; clubs. There are still arcades around for the kids and a good size amusement park nearby. Depending on the age of the teenagers they might enjoy the action of Downtown Myrtle Beach better. There%26#39;s a lot going on, and at this time in my life, too crowded in the summer for me. There are a number of large arcades, 2 large amusement parks, and even an oceanfront waterpark, plus much more. The Magic Attic is a teenage only dance club, at the MB Pavillion.

Broadway at the Beach is nearby and has lots of fun themed restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. There is a Ripley%26#39;s Aquarium, there and also Imax theaters. Across the street from Broadway, there is a NASCAR Speedpark, very popular.

Tons to do in the area, but also tons of crowds.

I grew up going to the MB area, and even spent my college summer breaks down there working. It was great fun. I%26#39;m not up on the latest, best condos resorts, however, we now own a beach house on Holden Beach, 45 minutes from Myrtle, so we just drive in for the day. (mostly during off season) Funbeaches.com has some good MB info. as well as the MB Chamber of Commerce website.

    Best Wishes!

north myrtle beach vs myrtle beach

Dear Geomoe, I rent a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo at Arcadian Dunes. I%26#39;ve been there a couple of times and haven%26#39;t been disappointed. I%26#39;d suggest a couple of websites to visit: www.myrtlebeach.com (general info) and I%26#39;ve stayed at this condo lsited at www.heavenlyvacationrentals.com.

    Geomoe,

I agree with the recommendation of North Myrtle Beach. It will satisfy everyone needs as it is fairly quiet, but you have direct access to the other features of Myrtle Beach which may interest your teenagers.

I can recommend Ocean Bay Club as a condo to stay in. #1409 is very nice unit which I have stayed in. I believe it is managed by Elliott Realty.

    Jakamo

we prefer NMB/ less crowded! Still plenty to do. We have stayed in wide variety of places in the many yrs we have vacationed there and have never been disappointed. We go thru one of the local realty co.- condo-world, elliott, Century 21 thomas, Grand Strand Resorts, etc and all have been great. There are some nice family style lowrise condos with pools that are oceanfront on ocean blvd [ ocean garden villas, palmwood villas, seascape, ] There are some very nice highrise condos with more amenities [ indoor pools, lazy rivers, etc] Can go thru same realtors. Dont forget- specify North Myrtle and Myrtle - very different places.

I agree with anga, when I first thought of coming back to MB, my first thought was wanting and needing to stay right where the action is, but now I have decided that NMB will suit our needs/wants just fine. Might be a good thing to stay a little farther away from %26#39;the action%26#39;. My husband would probably prefer to be farther away from crowds as well.

NMB will not disappoint you and your spouse or your teenage kids. House of Blues and other great things are directly across rt. 17 from Ocean Drive - we like the Nautical Watch condo%26#39;s. Check out Beachcomber Vacation Rentals for rates/photo%26#39;s. Great streetside pool (well screened from the street) but the beauty is beach and ocean front location.

They say each unit sleeps 6 but we think 4 is best. Two floors, two balconies, two full baths - all necessities with teenagers!

Also, washer/dryers in each unit make it nice to not have to over-pack.

Also, Broadway on the beach is a short cab ride away, or if you%26#39;re feeling particularly festive yourself - join the kids there. It%26#39;s like City Walk in Orlando - mini golf, etc.

I really believe MB is the best location for family vacations. They don%26#39;t seem to have commercialized the way Ocean City %26amp; Jersey Shore (etc) have.

My first NMB vacation was in 1989. We have made 1 trip there each summer since. I love NMB. When we started we had no kids (lots of golf) now we have 2-14yrs, 1-9yrs. We or them have never lacked for things to do in NMB.

Check out The Myrtle Beach Resort on Highway 17 South between Myrtle Beach and Surfside. The location is great, the condos are very nice and you are close to everything....you%26#39;ll drive to everything no matter where you stay. This resort is the largest on the Grand Strand.

    Enjoy your stay.

  • Who to contact on Yachtsman north/south towers?

1 certain post said to check out the north or south towers at the Yachtsman. Would anyone happen to know a website or who to contact.? Most reviews have been pretty good. Looking to go the end of August. Thanks so much for any help!

Who to contact on Yachtsman north/south towers?

Just wanted you to know, I just got back from MB and stayed clsoe to the Yachtsman and you might want to reconsider staying there right now. It%26#39;s a great resort but they are doing pier work ...MAJOR pier work right behind the hotel and it is a mess! No CLOSE beach access and the pool is terribly crowded and every single person I talked to was complaining at the outside conditions. It%26#39;s honestly not a good place to stay right now, but usually IS! We loved it before but was SO so happy we didn%26#39;t stay there this time because of the work outside...it%26#39;s loud, messy and just ..........not relaxing at all. Just so ya know! ;-)

    Golf and Nightlife.

Going to Myrtle the end of March. Me and my friend are all in our lower 30%26#39;s. We will be looking to golf during the day and party at night.

Although golf is important, we dont want to be stuck on a villa on a golf course in the middle of nowhere. Furthermore, we dont want to goto a place where everyone is over 80.

Preferably, we would like a 4-5 star hotel, thats got a exciting atmosphere.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Golf and Nightlife.

The place to party is at Broadway At The Beach; there are 10+ bars and nightclubs there. They have everything from a pub, a cigar bar, to all tastes in dance clubs. BroadwayAtTheBeach.com Most places there, charge a cover charge in the evenings, a way to save on this is the Myrtle Beach VIP Card. You get some free admissions, and some half off, with this card. (good for the entire year) There are also savings for accomodations, restaurants, shopping, golf, etc. MyrtleBeachVIPcard.com ($10, until 1/15/05, then $15)

As far as accomodations go, we and most of our friends own homes or condos in the area, so I don%26#39;t know much about hotel accomodations. There is a beautiful new Marriott resort hotel in the Grande Dunes area; very nice. The Chamber of Commerce website may be helpful in finding the type accomodations you want. MBChamber.com

    Best Wishes!

do not buy the vip card because it is a SCAM!

The pavillion was a bust. When I went there were very few butterflies and it was not worth the price of admission.

Suzy-Q, thanks for the site - that one does work! Not sure that it%26#39;s suitable for us, I%26#39;ve prepaid for hotel etc. and it didn%26#39;t list some of the attracions and restaurants I%26#39;d heard about that I want to visit. Yes . the card is true. Have had no problems using it. Have bought one for past 4 yrs. Yes, you need one card per person. There%26#39;s a hotel on Ocean Blvd. that sells them if you want to wait until you get there. Forget name of hand, but web site should tell you.

my experience is that the vip card is a SCAM. i paid with visa and never received the card. i called many times, it is only voicemail. theywill not answer the phone. and i emailed multilple times and never received a single response. apparently the only thing they did was charge my card! i am trying to find out where these people live!

most, maybe all, of the coupons are available in other places like the free books at the beach. it is not worth the frustration!

    Salty Dog Cafe

Salty Dog has their own website with their menu on it. I haven%26#39;t been there either but we are going this summer. The prices seem pretty reasonable and I have read where people said it was pretty good. Apparently it is a kid friendly place to go also. Have fun!

    Salty Dog Cafe

The Salty Dog is a great place to enjoy a drink and listen to live music. There is an outdoor grill by the bar that serves steam shrimp etc. and a restaurant over the water that is good. We always go to the Salty Dog when we go to HH.

It is a great place to have a few drinks during sunset, but otherwise the food is terrible. I completly recommend the Sea Pines Beach Club for dinner, it is great and it is right on the beach.

Another restaurant suggestion is the patio at The Boathouse. Great water views.

The Salty Dog is simply an island experience by the waterside. The food was non-memorable. Go for the simple experience alone. There are so many other better options if you are into food quality and variety.

We ate at the Wreck of the Salty Dog and it was very good. We ate there for lunch so we had sandwiches. Everything was good quality and the view was great! It cost about $35.00 for a family of 4.

    cruising from charleston

We are looking for a motel for 1 night pre-cruise and 1 night post-cruise. Nothing fancy as long as its clean. Would be helpful if there was a shuttle service to/from airport and possibly the pier as well. I don%26#39;t anything about Charleaston but would like something close to ';tourist things.'; Thanks

    cruising from charleston

    Hey.

Well, try the Harbour View Inn; it%26#39;s down near the best part of town as far as sights and stuff and it is also close to the pier where the cruise boats leave. I%26#39;d also try the Best Western King Charles Inn, which is also very close to both and perhaps a bit more affordable. I was driving downtown today and trust me, the more you can do walking the better - parking is an adventure to say the least.

    Enjoy your visit!

Hey anyone have any feedback on the Carribean resort... is it nice and clean... ??

    carribean resort

Kellee..I stayed there about 2 years ago.. It gets mixed reviews..I thought our room was clean..but it was very noisy..unsupervised children..You can read reviews on this page...Others have posted it was great..others have disagreed...

    carribean resort

We just got home from staying there for a week. Front desk is very helpful and polite. Rooms were average. Not quite as nice as on the website. Carpet was rundown. Pools were great, but the only complaint was the inconsiderate people. Every chair was taken by 8:00 in the morning. Hotel did nothing to prevent this. Other than that, it was a nice average place to stay. If you are looking for something upscale, this is not it, but it is nice for the kids.

    Breakers????? or not?

Anyone stayed in the Breakers recently? North Tower? Main Tower? Paradise Tower? -- no kids, just adults -- comments please.

    Breakers????? or not?

I%26#39;m staying there in Aug with another couple and some teen age kids. I%26#39;ve never stayed there before, but what I hear the Paradise Towers are the place tp stay. It is in walking distance to Dirty Doms and Bumzs. That alone makes it a great place to stay..I guess it%26#39;s close to all the action. If you want that then I guess it%26#39;s the place to stay.....maybe!

    Breakers????? or not?

Only if you can get paradise towers.

I have stayed at both the resort hotel and paradise tower. I actually preferred the resort hotel and returned there this year. The paradise is newer but without a lobby and waiting times for the elevators is long. The resort hotel is quieter, no elevator waits, has an attractive lobby and hallways. Both buildings are clean and well-kept. You can%26#39;t beat the location with Starbucks across the street and SoHo and River City right up the block on 21st. Chances are, I will stay at the Breaker%26#39;s Resort Hotel next year.

Thank you all, and especially Jade. I think I have come to the same conclusion after all of this -- glad to know that it does not make that much of a difference which tower you get, as a couple, the better deals are in the main resort for us. I%26#39;ll let everyone know after our stay! We don%26#39;t go until the end of July. Thanks.

    Crown Reef Hotel??

Has anyone stayed at this hotel?

    Feed back would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Crown Reef Hotel??

We stayed at the Crown Reef last August. We had stayed there in 96 %26amp; 97 when it was new. It was really nice back then, however, it has gone down hill since then. The pools and lazy river are rundown. The rooms are small and the cleaning people leave something to be desired. I had to clean sink and dish drain, they left kool aid on it. The parking area is where they leave all of the non-working fidges and ac%26#39;s. While that didn%26#39;t really affect us, it was an eyesore.

On the plus side, whenever I called for pillows, towels or when the in room safe wouldn%26#39;t work, the staff came right up. The location is good, near everything and close to the highway so you don%26#39;t have to go through all the in town traffic.

    hope this helps.

Went to Myrtle Beach a few years ago and we went did not take 95 all the way. We exited early and started to wind our way over to the Myrtle Beach via a lot of small towns (one was Florence I believe). Looking for anyone that might have a way to get there than taking 95 all the way down to MB.

    directions

Which direction are you coming from - north or south?

    directions

I%26#39;ll assume you are coming from Baltimore. There%26#39;s just not a great way to get into the MB area without going through some small towns. Probably your best bet is to get off 95 at exit 170 and take 327 down to 76 then take 76 to 576 and on to 501. Some day they will have an interstate spur going right to the beach but it may be a while. I can%26#39;t believe an area this popular that brings in so much money has been so neglected on roads- go figure.

    Any thoughts on the San-a-bel??

We will be staying at the San-a-bel in a few weeks; we%26#39;ve never been there before. Anyone have any thoughts on this place? Is it nice/clean? What restaurants %26amp; attractions are close by?

Long Bay Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC

I was considering booking a room at the Long Bay Resort in Myrtle Beach. I noticed that there is a considerable price difference between the North Ocean View Room and the South Ocean View Room. There must be some difference in the room other than the direction you are facing. Does anyone know what the diference is? Perhaps it is in an older section or a different building. I know I%26#39;m not willing to pay extra just to face North!

Long Bay Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC

One end of the strip is busier than the other. The North end is where alot of the happenings are for example the Pavilion(Small Amusement park), strip, etc.

We stay on the South end because it tends to be quieter.

  • Besides Nascar Speedpark, any other racing fans attractions?

I am going to Myrtle Beach from Aug. 19 - 27. My son (he%26#39;s 8)and husband ( and I!) are great Nascar fans. Are there any other places for race fans we can go to or tracks close by?

Besides Nascar Speedpark, any other racing fans attractions?

Well there is the Grande Prix Track in Myrtle Beach but I dont know exactly where it is! But you can go online and look it up!

    Hope that helps

Besides Nascar Speedpark, any other racing fans attractions?

    Cindy,

We are heading down next week and have been doing some research on the internet. Looks like Darlington is only about an hour and a half away. We plan on making a trip over to the track.

South beach adventure on 17 is the other racetrack attraction. PS Darlington is more like over 2hrs away.

My family of 5 went to Myrtle Beach Grand Prix. It was loads of fun!! We went there in the early afternoon and was able to get off of a track and then get right back on...little or no waiting. At about 4:00 we left to get some dinner. When we returned we were shocked to see we had to park way way out and ended up only being able to ride a go cart one more time because it was soooooo crowded. If you go I really recommend going when it first opens to get to really enjoy the park. It also has some carnival type rides too. It is located between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach on HWY 17. The web address is mbgrandprix.com. Good luck and have a GREAT time!!

    July 4th

I was wondering if anyone knew if most of the resorts in MB make you book at 7 nights stay around the 4th of July or can you book just 5 nights. Also does anyone know of any nice places to stay that time of year for right around the $200/night range? We like to stay close to everything and have 4 children ranging in age from 3 to 13. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them.

    July 4th

I have been going to MB for over 10 years. My favorite places close to the action are Coral Beach resort,Sea Crest,Sea Mist, and Breakers Paradise Towers.I believe some require 7 nights but most do not.I think any of these would be a great choice. You should compare prices and amenties to see which one you perfer. If you have any specific questions I would be glad to help.

    July 4th

I just booked 5 nights at the Carribean Resort and Villas for around the 4th. I think it is around 220.00. I got a 10% discount for being a return visitor. That was for a oceanfront king suite. It is big enough for 2 adults and 4 children. It has a full kitchen and wonderful pool areas for all ages! Good luck!

    Coral beach or Caribbean ??????

Can someone please tell me which one is the best. I have two small children and want to be able to walk to everything. I need a place with clean carpet too. I have a room at caribbean but might change to coral beach. Would that be a good idea? What exactly is children%26#39;s activity at coral beach?

    Coral beach or Caribbean ??????

Coral beach has a indoor playground which is nice due to the fact kids will get a lot of sun outdoors when in MB.They have a kids program. They also have a bowling alley and game room which is nice if you want entertaiment but do not want to drag the kids out on the street.Coral beach is a lot closer to the action than the Caribbean.Caribbean however is rated higher on this forum.I have stayed at both but I perfer Coral beach.CB also has a poolside entertainment which is nice since you may spend alot of time there anyway. They have a poolside bar if you would like to have a dink but Caribean does not.I think it all depends on you and your lifestyle.Caribbean would be more quiet with less hussle and bussle. Our carpet was okay.We have had no problems at either.I hope this helps.

    Coral beach or Caribbean ??????

You are in the same dilemma I recently was. I was trying to decide between the resorts connected with Coral Beach, Holiday Inn/Pavillon, and Sea Crest. We just decided on Sea Mist, because of the amount of activities.

My advice, call each of the resorts to see what they have to offer. I don%26#39;t think that some of the websites are accurate.

    Good luck

Unfortunately if you are looking for a place with carpet clean enough for small children to be on you are out of luck! There isn%26#39;t a hotel around with carpet that clean! Shows like 20/20 and Dateline have shown that! Lay a blanket or something on the floor for them to be on is my suggestion. The Carribean is a very nice place. WE are going back for our 3rd year....but the carpet is not clean enough to crawl on. They have a nice area for little ones with dumping water buckets. Good luck! Have a great vacation. :-)

Just received a flyer from Caribbean Resort today. It looks nice - we stayed there several years ago when it was called the Swamp Fox - we loved it

    October in Charleston

I have been to Charleston 2 prior times but it has been several years ago. I recall the Vendue Inn being very nice but would like to know if anyone has stayed there recently and if they would recommend it? I would like a hotel within the historic area where we can walk to the Market, restaurants and basically keep the car parked. Is the Vendue in a good area for that or would you recommend a different place?

    October in Charleston

We stayed at the Andrew Pinkney Inn that is exactly what you are describing. You can read a couple of reviews about it on Tripadvisor. You can see some good pictures of the inn by clicking on the name.

A continental breakfast is served on the roof with a nice view of the town. We parked our car and walked everywhere.

    October in Charleston

We stayed at Fulton Lane Inn and loved it. It%26#39;s in the heart of the historic district on a quiet side street and you can walk to any location easily from there.

Bachelorette/Girls Weekend - Where to Stay?

Never been to HH. Where%26#39;s the best area to stay for about 12-14 gals to party? Hoping to rent multi bedroom condos, and heard Forest Beach had a lot going on..... any other suggestions are welcomed.

Bachelorette/Girls Weekend - Where to Stay?

Forest Beach Villas is pretty close to the beach...less than a five minute walk, but not too high traffic with beach goers.

Ocean Walk also has nice condos. It%26#39;s about the same distance from the beach, but it%26#39;s beach access is further down toward Sea Pines...significantly less people.

I%26#39;d be happy to fill your glasses with Sparkling Wine

Bachelorette/Girls Weekend - Where to Stay?

Forest Beach is where most of the action is on HH. Many condo choices there. Seaside Villas and The Breakers are the cheapest oceanfront. Sea Crest most expensive. We often stay in that area and never get the car out (you will understand this when you see the traffic). Good bike rentals and restaurants. Coligny Plaza is fun at night - shops, music, people watching. Check out the Elvis impersonator. Have fun!

Just an FYI, Hilton Head is much more laid back than places like Miami, FtLaud, Cancun, StTropaz, etc. When my wife and her friends do their annual girls week they head for either Mexico or the Med.

Forest Beach is the place to stay.

    Seabrook Island, SC - input?

My husband and I are planning a vacation to Seabrook the first week of September. We%26#39;d like to rent a condo, however, site unseen it is difficult to know what we%26#39;re getting into. I have found a couple through Resort Quest, High Hammock and the ones at the Marina. Does anyone have experience with these properties or rental agency? Is all the shopping and dining by the marina? Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much for the help!

    Seabrook Island, SC - input?

My husband and I are renting a condo at Pelican Watch Villas which we found on Cyberrentals. We had never been to Seabrook island(I found it on the internet) and stopped on our way home from a trip to Florida. It looks wonderful. We rented the condo from the owner and it was cheaper than renting from Resort Quest. It is right on the beach, first floor, one bedroom. Try Cyberrentals, you might have some luck.

PS, the woman we rented from has been so helpful, lots of information about Seabrook and she will answer any questions you might have if you were to rent her villa.

    Seabrook Island, SC - input?

Resort Quest handles most of the rentals on Seabrook Island, but Seabrook Exclusives and Beachwalker also have rental units. Several individual owners rent on their own. Most of the rental companies rate their units in classes according to furnishings, so be sure to ask for the top or second rated units. The best villas to rent for access to the beach are Pelican Watch, one bedroom-two baths; Spinnaker, two bedrooms-two baths; and Sealoft, two bedrooms with loft-two baths. Fairway One units, if any are available would be a good choice, too. They are new, but only a couple are on a rental program. The marina villas are located in Bohicket Marina, near shops and several dining locations, but outside the gate at Seabrook and a ten minute drive to the beach. The newly opened shopping center at Freshfield Farms, just before you get to Seabrook, has shops, a grocery store with deli and one restaurant. Chez Fish on Betsy Kerrison Parkway is a popular dining choice. Be sure to try Rosebank Farms at Bohicket Marina for lunch. Have fun!

Thanks so much for the input so far. We%26#39;re excited. We%26#39;re thinking about relocating to Charleston and wanted to use this opportunity to check things out. We stayed on Hilton Head last year and had a great time but never really got to explore Charleston or the other areas.

    rental for 4 nights

I am looking into travel to Myrtle Beach with husband and two teenagers both 16. We have stayed in NMB and the kids were not too happy so maybe something around the Pavillion would appeal to them (just not their father). So any suggestions for either location is great. I am trying to finding accomodations that have seperate sleeping areas for kids and us as well as it being beachfront. Would love a condo or villa. Any suggestions on rentals for less that a week?

    rental for 4 nights

Look into the Roxanne Towers. A two bedroom suite is very nice but kinda expensive @239.00 per night but it%26#39;s within walking distance to the Pavalion.

Try the Litchfield area. The Litchfield Inn is an older property but is still nice. This area is 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach and is quieter. Good restaurants close by in Murrell%26#39;s Inlet. Good area to just lie on the beach and enjoy the sun.

The waters around Hilton Head are not the clear water that you need for good snorkling. You usually find that only where there is coral and HH is too far north for that.

do any of the resorts/hotels have organized kids programs that last for a couple hours. i.e. something where I would feel comfortable leaving a 6 year old for some grownup time. I would not mind even paying a bit extra.

There is a place in the Cherry Grove section (on the intercoastal) that I have been going for years. It was called Marker 52 (I think), Now it is called The Marker. It has a great setting as it is on the H2O and there is a marina with some nice boats right there also.

The food was good and the service was great. I thought it to be a good bargin but I%26#39;m aways paying these out of site NJ prices for food. I think for adults ate and drank for $150ish. Give it a try.

One of my favorites and a locals favorite at Murrell%26#39;s Inlet is Lee%26#39;s Inlet Kitchen. Some of the best seafood and steaks I have ever had at a reasonable price and in a nice atmosphere. Their crab cakes are unbelievable and different from any I have had anywhere. Like most places you have to go early or stand in line.

Another locals spot that has gained my favor is Villa Mare in the old Walmart shoping center at 7819 N. Kings Hwy. Probably the best Italian food I have ever had. They make all their pasta and sauces from scratch on site. The servings are large and very reasonably priced. My favorite is the lasagna. With a decent wine list, white table cloths and a hustling wait staff this place is hard to beat. Last time we were there they had changed to dinner only and no longer served lunch- too bad the lunch specials were really a good deal.

The Hot Fish Club is a great place to go sit outside and enjoy live music. They have a great view of Murrell%26#39;s Inlet.

The Sea Captain%26#39;s House is very nice. The food is great, and the ';backyard'; covered patio overlooking the ocean is a wonderful spot to relax while waiting for a table.

Few excellent restaurants to recommend...a new one in Murrells Inlet, Spuds, is where Cap%26#39;n Dicks Marina is. Great food...Hana%26#39;s on Inlet Row, across from Divines is excellent...Austins and Franks...more fine dining in Pawley%26#39;s are two of probably the best in town...my favorites. Top three for me are Hana%26#39;s, Frank%26#39;s, and Austins. Reservations are recommended...Spud%26#39;s has great atmosphere overlooking the inlet and a part of the Marsh Walk. Enjoy your stay.

Where should we stay on Kiawah with...

....two kids (boys 9 %26amp; 7)? Looking to be on or near beach. A pool would be a plus (i%26#39;ve read that you need to stay at the Resort to have pool access?). Would consider renting a house for a week (did this in Hilton Head last year and really enjoyed it). Can go with resort also. Want to keep kids busy so access to activities also a plus. We are looking to go in early August (I am getting a late start on planning) and hoping that pickings are not too slim. Also, does anyone with kids have an opinion on Kiawah vs HH? Driving from NE Ohio. Thanks!

Where should we stay on Kiawah with...

You don%26#39;t need to stay ';at'; the Resort, but ';with'; the Resort. They have many different properties on their rental program in various locations. Night Heron Park is a great place for kids, so anything close to that might work for you.

Where should we stay on Kiawah with...

We rented a 2 bedroom condo through the Resort for our trip next month with our 3 kids. A cousin (whose opinion I trust) had been there twice with her family and loves it (that%26#39;s why we%26#39;re going). I looked at a lot of the other rental agencies, but decided to go with the Resort because that%26#39;s what my cousin did, and she was pleased with them. Plus, as you mention, the pool facilities are an issue. Another thing: I believe you can buy a pool facility pass for something like $50 a week if you rent elsewhere, but don%26#39;t quote me on that.

    Coral Beach Poolscapes-Any Trees/Shaded Areas

Can anyone tell me if there are any shaded areas around the poolscapes at Coral Beach Resort. It seems that they don%26#39;t have any type of lawn area. Are there any trees that one could use for a bit of shade?

    Thanks for your help.

    Coral Beach Poolscapes-Any Trees/Shaded Areas

Stayed at Coral Beach last week. Had a fabulous time. There are pools on three sides of the hotel so you can always find a shady spot somewhere - or you can rent an umbrella on the beach. The indoor pool is also just off the deck by the outdoor pools, so if the kids have had enought sun you can just move in there. We walked around and looked at several of the resorts. There aren%26#39;t alot of trees anywhere right along the beach. Hope you have as much fun as we did. Be sure to go to Barefoot Landing at some point. There are fireworks there on Tuesday night if you are in town. Also a lot of great restaurants there. Have a great time! Forest City

    Coral Beach Poolscapes-Any Trees/Shaded Areas

Thank you forestcity. We have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for about six years now. We usually stay at Beach Colony because we love the location. With all of the construction at the Beach Colony as well as next door, we have chosen the Coral Beach Resort. I am sure we will have a great time, as usual. Broadway at the beach is always a must

We are trying to make reservations for a stay in Myrtle Beach in July and I just received an email from sandcastle resorts. has anyone stayed there and if so are the rooms clean (major priority)and what are in rooms--ie coffee makers or hair dryers. Are they pretty up to date or are these older resorts? Also what about the Grand Shores. Have seen good reviews on this one. Any more comments?

sandcastle at the pavillion or south beach???

grande shores is excellent. We stayed there last summer and are going again this Sun. Nice ,clean rooms and pools lazy rivers etc. Great service at front desk and from maids. They even call you when you check in to make sure everything is ok for you!

Heard the Sandcastle south is better than the pavillion location. Look up the reviews on tripadvisor and see. Have not stayed there but got an email for a great rate. Already had reservations at Grande Shores though.

sandcastle at the pavillion or south beach???

I just stayed at the Sandcastle South Beach from 6/19-6/24, If you are getting a good rate it is not bad. I believe it is much better than the pavillion. It is somewhat typical for a beach hotel, the carpeting has seen better days, the room was not filthy but not immaculate either. That said it looked better than a lot of the other hotels near by. I stayed at the crown reef a couple of days also, and I liked that better than the Sandcastle South Beach, but the Sandcastle had $79, a night for an oceanview suite, so that was hard to beat, it was worth it for that price but I would not pay over a $100 a night for it though. The pools were ok but I felt lacked security, kids were running all over the place, I had a child jump on me while I was using the lazy river, not too relaxing.

    Closest accommodations to Barefoot Landing?

Any reasonably priced accommodations within walking distance of Barefoot Landing? One room is fine....just for two people. Thanks.

    Closest accommodations to Barefoot Landing?

Ocean Creek is right across the street..It has several types of accommodations, 57 acre resort..several pools..beautiful resort. The Barefoot resort is right behind Barefoot...I will check into more for you.

Go to www.booerealty.com click on oceanview or off ocean condos and checkout barefoot resort its right across the street

Oceanfront lodging close to shopping, restaurants, etc.?

Any recommendations? Trying to help a friend who is staying there the end of August. Her boyfriend will be golfing most days and she will not have a car and wants to be able to walk places - oceanfront is a must!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Oceanfront lodging close to shopping, restaurants, etc.?

Well, the way Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas are laid out makes it nearly impossible to accomodate that. The five biggest places for shopping are Coastal Grand Mall, Tanger Outlets NMB, Barefoot Landing, Tanger Outlets 501, and Broadway at the beach. All of these are laid out on major hwy%26#39;s (17, and 501), which are no where near oceanfront, although they have lodging nearby.

Oceanfront lodging close to shopping, restaurants, etc.?

I don%26#39;t think she wanted to be close to a mall, just maybe some small stores. Perhaps some of the larger resort hotels have some shops or restaurants on site so she would have everything she needs right there? I also must admit that I%26#39;ve read a lot of the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor and I%26#39;m a bit taken aback to see so many negative ones - seems like there are some really inconsistent reviews even among the higher rated properties!

    Sea Crest Ocean Front Resort

Hoping for any feedback from people who have stayed at this hotel. I don%26#39;t need the Ritz but would like to be able to take my shoes off in the room without concern. Thanks. We%26#39;ll be with our 2 kids ages 6 and 8. Hoping for a decent beach and pools without creepy crawlies. (and a room without a mysterious odor). Thanks for any input.

    Sea Crest Ocean Front Resort

My family and I stayed there April 15-17, 2005. We had an oceanfront suite on the 12th floor. The only problems we had with this hotel were the elevators. They were slow, but sometimes they were fast, depending on use. I enjoyed our stay at SeaCrest, and I cannot wait to go back this summer. I don%26#39;t know about the other rooms, but our room did not have a mysterious odor. The rooms need new appliances, though. The furniture was very nice in my opinion. The beach is absolutely lovely! However, I did make ONE mistake. I got into the ocean (silly me) and got sick. Maybe because the ocean water was so cold and it was the middle of April! The sand is nice and soft. I loved sitting on the balcony at sunset every night and watching the sun go down over the ocean. Absolutely beautiful! I%26#39;m sure you and your children will enjoy SeaCrest, Starved4Sun. If you go to any restaurants in Myrtle Beach, DO NOT go to Grandma%26#39;s Kitchen! The food is not good and its not worth what we paid for it. Overall, I loved SeaCrest and our stay there! I hope you all have fun, Starved4Sun!

    Sea Crest Ocean Front Resort

We love the Sea crest Resort.Your kids will love the kiddie pool and lazy river.I felt the room was clean and free of odors. The free breakfast had a lot of variety. The beach and pool area are great. If you have any specific questions let me know I would be glad to answer them. The hotel is in a great location.

Thank you, I%26#39;m not as nervous now.

Just be careful when crossing Ocean Boulevard to go to the parking garage. Hopefully the traffic will not be as bad as it was when I was there.

    Directly on the ocean motel/hotel

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advise on where to stay in Myrtle beach. Preferably on Ocean blvd. My in laws stayed at the APACHE MOTEL 2 years ago but they don%26#39;t really want to go back. They say the rooms were clean, no bugs or roaches, but it%26#39;s pretty old and run down. If we don%26#39;t find anything I guess we%26#39;ll stay there but I would like to find a new place. I%26#39;ve looked EVERYWHERE on the net and found sooo many motels but either they are too expensive or they are not directly on the beach or worst yet, they have the worst reviews.

Some of the motels don%26#39;t have websites and I%26#39;m wondering if maybe one of them is a good play to stay. Any info. or advise would be appreciated and very helpful.

P.S. I%26#39;ve also ordered many brochures, they haven%26#39;t gotten here yet but I don%26#39;t trust the brochure pics. :)

    Directly on the ocean motel/hotel

I would stay at the Beach Colony Resort because it is a very spacious place and it is right on the beach. I would reccomend it! Have FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Directly on the ocean motel/hotel

Do you want to be right in the middle of it all or do you prefer a little less congestion?

If you want to be close to everything but prefer your privacy try the Jamican Motor Inn. It is the last oceanfront motel in the Myrtle Beach area, right beside the Sea Capitains restaurant. If you have kids you might want to stay some where that has a little more to offer.

Well I%26#39;d like to be around the action but not right in the center.

I was also looking at Sandy Beach Resort. Wonder if anyone knows anything about this resort. Seems like it%26#39;s located right on the beach and near everything.

For what you would spend on a motel/ hotel I would rec. one of the low-rise condos along Ocean Blvd. They have 2-3 BR and are reasonably priced. They can be rented thru any of the agencies. We have gone for 18 years and stayed in a variety of them and have never been disapp. Elliott,CondoWorld,Grand Strand Resorts,Century21 Thomas have all been great to work with. They are all Ocean front and have pools. Just specify if you want your condo to face ocean front and what floor you want because some do not have elevators. Seascape Villa%26#39;s Ocean Garden Villa and Palmwood Villa are a few sugg. Don%26#39;t forget all are individ owned so decor varies. Just tell the realty comp. what you want. Good Luck

We love Beach Cove resort in NMB. The higher floors are nicer. The pools are beautiful and there is an outdoor bar where you can ger drinks and burgers. It%26#39;s fabulous, right on the beach and every room is ocean front. The people ther are really nice, too.

We%26#39;ve stayed at Ocean Bay Club 3 times and the Ashworth once. Very nice places and would recommend either, however Ocean Bay has a nicer pool area. Great location and reasonably priced!

Is North Myrtle A Good Vacation Spot

Is North Myrtle Beach as nice as Myrtle Beach? I was just wondering because I would like to stay in North Myrtle for once instead of Myrtle Beach. If you know some stuff about North Myrtle could you tell me! Please and Thankyou

Is North Myrtle A Good Vacation Spot

Have been going to N. Myrtle for 4 years now %26amp; we love it %26amp; wouldn%26#39;t stay anywhere else. Our friends always stay in Myrtle %26amp; we come %26amp; visit them and we are always shocked at how small their places are. We often times are paying less for a 3 bedroom condo in N. Myrtle. We have stayed at the Ashworth, Ocean Bay Club %26amp; Crescent Shores. They were all quite nice w/Crescent Shores being the newest and nicest. I have used Elliott Realty, %26amp; Condo World, and would not recommed using Condo World. They are very unproffessional and don%26#39;t know what customer service means.

The beaches are more ';family friendly'; in N. Myrtle and there%26#39;s much more beach area. Great atmoshphere. If you want to spend some days or evenings in Myrtle it%26#39;s great because there%26#39;s so much to do, but it%26#39;s always nice to go back to N. Myrtle to unwind. Also, lots of great restaurants in N. Myrtle %26amp; Barefoot landing is agreat place to shop %26amp; dine at.

Is North Myrtle A Good Vacation Spot

North Myrtle is better than Myrtle. Not as crowded, nicer loding, great restaurants and shopping. It%26#39;s my pick anytime over MB proper.

Does anyone know what the weather will be like in July at North Myrtle Beach???

It%26#39;s not bad at all...I would like to recommend the south end of the beach...Surfside, Murrells Inlet, Garden City. Not nearly as crowded as the north and Murrells Inlet has some of the best restaurants here. Also close to Pawleys Island which offers some good shopping.

So is the weather rainy rainy or just a little rainy in July at Myrtle Beach

In terms of weather, nothing is given. SC weather is pretty random in weather. The saying goes: ';Don%26#39;t like the weather? Wait a few days and it will change.'; I%26#39;d check the long-range weather forcasts but even those are vulnerable to not being super accurate. Also, pay attention to tropical storms and off coast conditions because even if they go south to Florida, we still get some spinoff from them.

In terms of MB v. NMB...depends what you%26#39;re looking for. If you want less crowds, and more family oriented beaches, NMB is definitely the place. Like the previous poster stated, they have better shopping and restaurants. MB is more entertainment and amusement, ergo the larger crowds and younger people staying there.

Depends on what you are looking for. I consider Myrtle the Las Vegas of the Grand Strand, without the gambling. Lots of theme attactions, loud, noisy, not too clean. NMB is for the family. Nice beaches, restaurants, shopping, and places to stay...especially condos. I visit NMB very frequently, and avoid Myrtle at all costs.

    Attraction's are NEEDED please!

so far the only attraction%26#39;s we got is from the main site and they are:

    Ripley%26#39;s Aquarium

    Myrtle Beach Pavillion Amusement Park

    True Blue Golf Course

and Caledonia Golf and Fish Club

but that%26#39;s not enough especially since were staying for two weeks *IF we decide on this place* and we%26#39;d probley run out of thing%26#39;s to do and get bored. mostly something that would be fun for a 17 year old and a 21 year old. Thanks in Advance.

    Attraction's are NEEDED please!

The medevil dinner show, dixie stampede dinner show, nascar go carts,Family Kingdom Amusement park,Myrtle Waves waterpark,Alligator adventure, the house of blues, hard rock cafe, and planet Hollywood.Boy and girl watching which ever the case maybe LOL.There is a lot to do in MB

    Attraction's are NEEDED please!

    www.seascreamer.com/myrtlebeach.htm or www.carolinasafari.com or www.dixiestampede.com

www.alligatoradventure.com plenty to do bungi jumping ,parasailing , 4dmovies,ripleys has four attractions www.ripleysaquarium.com( they are all listed on this site.) they wont be bored at all.

Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park. With two weeks you should think about a day trip to Charleston.

There is so much to do in MB..I have teens and they are never bored..If you are girls..lots of shopping too along with the above recommendations from folks above. IMAX Theatre...Broadway At The Beach, Barefoot Landing, NASCAR, Pawley%26#39;s Island, Grande Coastal Mall, Great Food...THe Beach...

Myrtle Beach is the second most visited tourist spot in the country ( right behind Orlando). I assure you no one need be bored there. Plenty to do! Enjoy!

Don%26#39;t forget that you can minature golf yourself to death here. There seems to be one on nearly every corner. Some are much more fun than others. Very crowded at night/evenings. Daytime deals like play all day for $5 are common and there are almost no lines but it can be very hot. You might also check into Capt. D ick%26#39;s Marina down in Murrell%26#39;s inlet for fishing trips, boat rentals, seadoo rentals and speed boat rides.

There is alot to do like Family Kingdom Amusement Park. Myrtle Waves, Broadway At The Beach, Barefoot Landing, Nascar Cafe, Nascar Speedpark. You wont run out of things to do I promise because there is alot of stuff to do at MB. HAVE FUN!!!

wow i just posted that yesterday and i got ton%26#39;s of help already! thank%26#39;s soo much! AmySC Chareleston%26#39;s in NC aint it? were flying down to Myrtle from Pittsburgh and i don%26#39;t think we%26#39;d have a way up there LOL considering we don%26#39;t know how far away the beach is from there. Thank%26#39;s for all the help from all of yins! i have it all written down already. Are there website%26#39;s to alot of these places? All these places look great. if anyone else has anything else, please post away! thanks so much once again! : )

Charleston is in SC- it%26#39;s less than a hundred miles south of MB, so you would need a car... but it is worth the trip ifyou have a day to dedicate to it- lots of historical homes to see, markets, etc

OOPS i had that mixed up with Charlotte. heh ;)

yea hopefully we can both figure out a

transportation to get us around down

    there some how. thanks ;)

    Deer Creek

I planning on visiting Mrytle Beach/Surf Side around the first of Aug. Is Deer Creek a good place to stay???

    Deer Creek

Deer Creek has some nice condos surrounding the course. The nicest ones are the presidential villas which is primarily for timeshare owners. I%26#39;ve stayed in the units right before the villas and they were nice also. If you are planning on playing golf it would be wise to choose another course.

    Oceanwalk/Adventure Inn

I would highly recommend staying away from this business. I checked in and the place was filthy--I guess maid service had never made it to clean the room but there were beer bottleseverywhere and cigarette butts on the floor of my non-smoking room. When I went to the desk to complain I was told the maid had left for the day and this was all they had available....so I went down the street to Holiday Inn--which was excellent! The next morning I met with a manager from the Adventure Inn and she refused to refund my deposit AND charged me for the dirty room even after I returned the key that night! Unbelievable! My family loved Hilton Head but I recommend staying elsewhere.

    Oceanwalk/Adventure Inn

Bump. Had a very similar experience and wish I had read this first. Stayed at Comfort Inn across the street which has a great pool/waterpark and activities for children. They have a shuttle service (big golf cart) that can take you over to the beach. Did you ever get your deposit back? We were able to contest the charges with our credit card company.

    Oceanwalk/Adventure Inn

Sorry about the bad experience if you ever want to come back I have a condo with maid service before and after a stay that is not expensive a short walk to the beach and pool with a store on site and kids activities bedroom bunk beds separte area with pull out sofea in living room and view of ocean from balcony

Please post your comments to the General Review Page. I booked with Adventure Inn for this weekend after reading the General Reviews. I am now seeing your feedback in the forum and it would have prevented me from booking there. I%26#39;m not sure what to expect when I check in tomorrow...

    Grand Shores Resort

Please tell us about this resort.

    Grand Shores Resort

Hi momofgirls.. I don%26#39;t know if you checked out the reviews on this site...click on myrtle beach hotels..see if anyone has a review there..By the way, my sister used to live in your city...

    Grand Shores Resort

We stayed at the Grande Shores last year and it was great. We are staying there again this Sunday in fact. Lots to do . 2 Lazy rivers, 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor. 7th floor pool area with outdoor pool, lazy river and 4 hottubs. Ocean front area with pool 3ft- 8ft deep and larger lazy river. Playground oceanfront. Indoor pool 3-5 feet deep huge 20 person hottub and kiddie pool with water umbrella. Great for rainy days cuz that is all inside. Great views from all rooms some oceanfront some angle ocean view. We stayed in a 1 room condo. King bed in front room ,galley kitchen %26amp; bathroom separating living room with balcony, kitchen table %26amp;4 chairs murphy bed pulls out of the wall sleep 2 and sleeper sofa also sleeps 2. 600 square foot room very nice. Built in 2001 I believe. Also have motel type rooms and bigger condos. Kids eat free at dinner, buffets offered some nights, breakfast buffet in am. Kids activities during the day. Lifeguard station right in front of hotel on the beach . ( A must for me with kids) Great staff, helpful, very clean resort. Hope this helps

we are currently staying at the Grande shores and I cannot say enough good things about it, as a matter of fact we like it so much we havel already decided to come back with our children in August. We are staying in a 2 room suite ( or condo) and it is huge, more than enough room and appears to all be very new. Staff is wonderful, anything you need they will help you with

Anyone stay at the Jamaican Motor Inn recently?

I would love to know anyones opinion on this property, we will be staying here from July 21 thru the 26th.

What type of accomodations can we expect? Are the rooms updated? We are staying in the Penthouse, the very top rooms for that motor inn.

And of course location was important so hope this was a good choice! Price was on the lower end but just a bit worried since we usually stay in 3 star properties at the minimum, when we do travel.

Love to hear anyones opinion as I said.

    Thanks!

Anyone stay at the Jamaican Motor Inn recently?

never stayed there but I have read that the penthouse is the smallest room and has no balcony. just so you know?

Anyone stay at the Jamaican Motor Inn recently?

You must be thinking of something else because it does have a balcony. Its even apparent from the picture. I was told it did. There are 3 penthouse rooms and the were used primarily for honeymooners.

Possibly were you thinking of another hotel?

I%26#39;ve never stayed here but I stayed for years at the Roxanne which the Williamsons owned (an unfortunately sold several years back) in addition to the Jamaican. In fact the Roxanne was named after Mr. Williamsons wife. If they run this place like they did the Roxanne (I presume their kids run this as they would be pretty old by now) you could expect a very well maintained and clean older property. The staff at the Roxanne was the best right down to the maids and maintenance people. Mr. Williamson was on site daily making sure everyone was doing their jobs. They even hosed down the parking lot on a daily basis. The only reason we never stayed here after the Roxanne was sold was the location being so far north of the Pavilion area which we like to be able to walk to from our hotel. I would be interested in knowing what the Jamaican is like.

I know. hopefully someone can share their recent experience here. I am particulary interested in anyone who has stayed in the top penthouse room, I guess there are only 2 of them.

    handicapped-equipped suite

Can anyone tell me which resort has good accommodations for a person who uses a walker and wheelchair? We are looking for a two-bedroom suite with one bedroom and bath handicapped-equipped.

Creekalto..I called Staybridge Suites in Fantasy Harbour Myrtle Beach and spoke to a man named Mike...He said they have bathrooms that you can wheel the chair right into.. My aunt is handicapped and we were able to push the chair into the bathroom and I believe they had a bench..in there to sit on for showering..I doubled checked though..I forgot phone number but just google in Fantasy Harbour Myrtle Beach..The rooms are really nice..and you can get connecting rooms..Only thing they are not near the beach..I will check around for more for you and I will post the Staybridge Suites phone number.. Good Luck.

  • Ocean Forest Plaza or The Yachtsman-Which is better of the...

My family and I are going to Myrtle Beach from July 6 through July 16 and I have been researching accomodations. I have finally gotten the choices down to 2 of them and both condos are being rented from the Owner. One is the Ocean Forest Plaza and the other is the Yachtsman. Which one do you think would be better ie: hotel, location, amenties, beach. They are both ocean front but the price difference is about $250.00. There is myself, my husband our 3 year old son and my 13 year old sister. Thank you so much in advance for your advice and help.

Ocean Forest Plaza or The Yachtsman-Which is better of the...

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Ocean Forest Plaza but not the Yachtsman, so I can shed a little bit of light for you. OFP is not exactly on the beach. There is a small road between the beach and the hotel that is lined w/ palm trees and a jogging trail. In the summer the outdoor pool area has a live dj and kids activities which will interest a 13 yr old, but probably not the 3yr old. Don%26#39;t let the road be your deciding factor though, the OFP is in a quieter section of MB, w/ the beach being less crowded than the area where the yachtsman is. The OFP is a high rise (the parking deck is screwy, beware) so you have a gorgeous view of the beach as there are few obstructions. We had good maid service and I think we even needed maintenance on our front door, and they were very responsive. I hope this helps, maybe a little.

Ocean Forest Plaza or The Yachtsman-Which is better of the...

Be aware that the Yachtsman is a high rise with lots of rooms which can make for a crowded beach and pool. On top of that you have a pier stuck right in the middle of the beach which significantly limits the beach area that%26#39;s available for swimming. Yachtsman is also in the area where cruising traffic is still heavy so be prepared for noise and heavy traffic in the evenings through early AM especially Friday and Saturday. It is within easy walking distance of the Pavilion.

My family (husband, 2 daughters-age 12, age 9) and I have stayed at both resorts. We have stayed at The Yachtsman several times during varying months of the year. We have stayed in the Glass Tower and have stayed in the privately owned condos. It is definitely more crowded and more noisy there during June-Aug. It%26#39;s hard to find a spot on the beach or by the pool. Great place to stay during off-season (during Sept-May) because of location. The OFP is at the northern end of MB and is quiet and less crowded. It%26#39;s all in what you want from your vacation. This year we are staying in North Myrtle Beach and trying The Avista resort. Good Luck and have fun at MB.

I have stayed in the Yatchman Glass Tower. It is for the most part pretty clean... It has an indoor pool and outdoor pool, both are to small to hold the amount of guest that are there. Pier 14 is located directy in front of the resort. I am not sure if OFP rooms are ';jacuzzi suites'; like the Glass Towers but dont be fooled the jacuzzi is no more than a tub with 4 jets in it. All and all its a decent place but I probally wouldn%26#39;t stay there again.

Have you booked your reservations yet? If not, (and maybe even if you have), there is a condo in North Myrtle Beach we stayed at and loved it. 2 bed/2 bath, big rooms, nicely decorated, about 100 yards (or less) to beach and right on the inlet, great views. Very family oriented area and condo. Nice pool, BBQ%26#39;s, fishing pier, lot%26#39;s of shopping and restaurants (short drive).. Our kids played w/ other kids the entire time at beach and/or pool. Very comfortable and reasonable. I%26#39;d guess it would be about $700 a week. We rented through Elliott Realty, condo name Reflections, unit A7. Good luck.

I have not stayed at either, but my friends family has stayed at the Yachtsman and we have visited. I think this place looks and smells really dirty! The OFP, we have checked into and think it is a nice place, and not right in the middle of all the traffic.

I read on another website that the yachtsman has a big constuction project going on with a huge crane on the beach. I would check into that before making a choice.

    Anchorage Inn

Has anyone stayed here recently? What are the inner rooms like? I understand it is quiet and well-maintained. We are only a couple, but like quiet and bright spaces. Any thoughts?

    Anchorage Inn

I stayed there 4 years ago, but I bet it is about the same. It is well maintained and very clean, with antique reproduction furniture. The furniture is very dark and the interior room is also dark, as the window opens up to the lobby. I wasn%26#39;t crazy about how dark it felt in there, but it was quiet.

The trade off though is a great location, nice staff and a cozy atmosphere.

    Anchorage Inn

fridayqueen, your response is very helpful and is sort of what I was afraid of. May have to re-evaluate our lodging. Any ideas?

If you still want to try and stay there, there are 2 rooms(I think) at the very front that have windows, so if you could request one of those you%26#39;ll have the best possible scenario.

Try the Meeting Street Inn or Indigo Inn. All rooms open up to courtyards and not sure about all rooms but some have balconies.

    30 something night clubs

we are a 30-something couple looking for nightlife. we will be there april 15 - april 23rd.

    any suggestions?

    30 something night clubs

Go to Broadway At The Beach, there are 10 nightclubs there in Celebrity Square; something for everyone. Here%26#39;s a link to the BATB website click on ';nightlife';. http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/

There is also a Myrtle Beach VIP card that will save you a lot of money on cover charges for nightclubs, plus restaurants, attractions, and hotel discounts, plus much more. Here%26#39;s the link: http://www.myrtlebeachvipcard.com/

You will get free admission to the BATB nightclubs during the week and 1/2 price on weekends with this card.

    It%26#39;s a real deal!

    Best Wishes!

    30 something night clubs

I definately agree with Broadway at the Beach, always a great place to go. There is also a new set of clubs called Town Square located on Business 17 across from Studebakers at about 20th Ave. N. which is very fun as well! Studebakers may be another place to check out. They usually always have a good mix of people. Have a great time!

i have a beach house in myrtle and find broadway a bit boring. the night life there is geared to young people and you don%26#39;t want to be the ';old couple'; hanging out. i like Oscars which is a standard bar with great food and beer but no music. cheeseburger in paradise has good food, beer, and music nightly. i%26#39;m sure there is much better places but these are two places i really enjoy any night. DO NOT buy the VIP card as it is a scam and you will likely not even receive the card. good luck!

We are a 40 something couple that went with 2 other 40 something couples %26amp; one 30 something couple %26amp; 1 20 something couple and we all went to Broadway at the Beach where we discovered ';Crocodile Rocks'; a dueling piano bar. It was one of the most memorable evenings I%26#39;ve ever had, the music was outstanding, we knew all the songs %26amp; we sang along and ';rocked the house';. Definitely a must see! We actually had gone to the martini bar around the corner and we were given free entry passes so we figured we would try it out. Sure glad we did!!!

will be in georgetown on business

I will be in Georgetown for business later this month and since it%26#39;s fairly close to Myrtle Beach I thought I%26#39;d take the family for a short beach vacation. The question I have is should we stay in Georgetown or Myrtle. It seems like it would be easier for me to drive from Myrtle to Georgetown to work than for my wife to drag the kids from Georgetown to Myrtle to go to the beach. I just don%26#39;t know what the drive is like or what the hotel accomodations are like in Georgetown. I%26#39;ve been to Myrtle so I know what that is like. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

will be in georgetown on business

    Hey PTC

Well I have never been to Georgetown before , but I heard that Myrtle beach was packed out , and noisy at night .

Its not that i dislike the masses but I get enough of that in England .

So decided to stay at George town and just drive into Myrtle beach from what I have been told its an easy drive any way But I find driving in America is so much easier than driving here in England .

I dont think your wife will mind the drive to mytle beach and just think your kids get to see the sights in the bargain.

maybe this will help you decide but any how you and your family have a wonderful time ..

I arrive in Savannah this Sunday cant wait ....

I would suggest Litchfield. It is in between Georgetown and Myrtle and close to good restaurants in Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island.

    KOA Kabin camping?

Hi - I%26#39;m not really a HUGE fan of camping, but my BF is...he loves it, and he figured the best way to have a compromise is a Kabin. However, this is one of those cabins that just have beds and no bathroom and I have a thing about public bathrooms. Am I just screwed?

What%26#39;s it like there - we%26#39;ve camped using tents at Myrtle Beach State Park and I got completely killed by mosquitoes. However, it was beautiful and the beach was quiet.

  • Rental Car Needed?

My boyfriend and I thinking about taking a 5 day trip to Charleston. We have never been there before and are not familiar with the city transportation system. We would be flying and possibly staying at the Holiday Inn in Mt. Pleasant. We would like to avoid the added cost of a rental car if possible. Is getting around the Charleston area without a car doable? Is there any public transportation that could be helpful? Any suggestions would great!

    Rental Car Needed?

My boyfriend and I are also going to Charleston a week from today to visit some friends who live on James Island (on the south side of Charleston). They said a rental car is needed if you want to go to the different beaches and to the downtown area. I guess there are no metra trains and that the buses don%26#39;t go to many of the areas outside of downtown Charleston. If you are staying downtown Charleston, though, I guess the bus system is supposed to be okay there.

Needless to say, we%26#39;re going to rent a car. I will say though that they are not as expensive as I would have thought (only about $150 for a mid-size car for a whole week). And if you%26#39;re flying United they are currently offering specials on Hertz rental cars that will cost you even less.

Hope this helps. Have fun on your trip!

    Rental Car Needed?

    Good reply, Nicole.

Yeah, the mass transit here is a bit of an issue.

If I were you, I%26#39;d definitely rent a car. Mt P is not far from the great sights of Charleston - unless you%26#39;re walking! ;-)

Everything downtown is pretty much near each other so you could park and walk. But other sights, such as the Gardens, the beaches, the ballparks - they%26#39;re too far to walk.

I hope you have a great time.
