Does anyone know of a place in the Crescent Beach - North Myrtle Beach area the serves oysters, clams, shrimp ect. in the raw or steamed varity. I%26#39;m not really looking for a large restaurant just a small bar type place. One that has that locals atmosphere. Looking for a place that has good steamers and serves them raw to.
Thanks for any info.
Raw Bar and Steamers North Myrtle, Crescent Beach
I lived in the NMB area during the summers while in college. (it%26#39;s been YEARS ago) We used to hang out with locals for Happy Hour at Marina Raw Bar at Vereen%26#39;s Marina. They had a great casual atmosphere with outdoor seating, overlooking the marina. They always had great specials on oysters on the half shell and steamed shrimp, etc. It is located on Hwy. 17 North beyond Ocean Drive. It is on the Waterway side of the road on 13th Ave. N. My husband ate there a month ago while on a golf trip and said that everything was still great.
In the past few years I%26#39;ve also heard good things about Duffy%26#39;s Seafood Shack on Main St. in Ocean Drive.
Best Wishes!
Raw Bar and Steamers North Myrtle, Crescent Beach
Thanks for the info. I will be sure and try both. I saw some of your posts about Dockside and you were right about that place. They have excellent food.
I didn%26#39;t realize that there were different forms for Myrtle and North Myrtle until now so I%26#39;m posting there also.
Thanks again for the info.
I don%26#39;t know of any right in Cresent Beach except for Duffy%26#39;s which is only up Ocean Blvd about a mile. There are seafood markets also on Main St to buy your own. Most are restaurants. There are a couple beach front bars along Ocean blvd that are not visible from the street [ they are attached to some of the highrise condos}. Not sure of their name. The rest are out on 17 and are regular restaurants. You have better luck all the way down in Murrells Inlet/Pawleys Island. Even Calabash is OK.
Rockefeller%26#39;s (spelling?) right on the main road in NMB is great! They have happy hour with 35 cent raw oysters and great chowder! All their food is very good - just don%26#39;t expect atmosphere. It%26#39;s more bar like, but worth it. We went twice with our 6 year old.
