Has anyone stayed at Compass Cove?

After reading the reviews over and over and over again I%26#39;m still not sure what to do. Compass Cove is in the Southern part of Myrtle Beach which is where we like to stay, they include breakfast in their package, they give you tickets to local attractions and they have numerous pools. What could be better right? I just want to know that the rooms are clean and its not to big. I%26#39;m still driving my family crazy. I went to AAA today and got the stay and play booklet but I really need to make reservations quickly since our vacation is in July. Thanks for the help.

It has been about four years since we stayed at Compass Cove. At that time the rooms were clean and cheerful. There was a nice restaurant in the building and indoor water play pools, etc for the kiddies. Also an out door swiming pool too. It is on the beach. The staff was nice and helpful too. However, that was four years ago. I have no idea how it is now. I am sure that it would be acceptable and you might do worse somewhere else unless you went to something brand new.

My personal opinion is that the on-site restaurant, the location and the indoor swimming in case the weather is bad, would make it a better choice than some of the others.

we stayed there last year in july and the rooms were clean and everything was above avg. except elevators were slow.

I was wondering if I could get help with this one too. I have been looking over the internet for hotels in Myrtle Beach and the ones I am deciding over are Long Bay Resort, Compass Cove, Sea Mist, and Sea Crest. Any help or advice would be apprecitated!

Parts (wings, sections, etc.) of the Compass Cove look better than others. We thought we wanted to stay here but changed our minds after visiting. Also, the ';deal'; they were offering turned out to be more than other properties were charging.

I would suggest Long Bay, but that is at the other end of town.

We were in Myrtle this past April, we stayed in N. Myrtle but we had several friends that stayed in S. Myrtle at Compass cove where we spent several days together. The rooms were very clean, the elevators were slow, but the pools were great %26amp; the beach was crowded and lots of fun. In comparison to our condo we felt their rooms were small, but if you compare it to a basic ';holiday inn'; type hotel room (mini-suite) it will give you a pretty good idea on size. Our friends had the suite, which was 2 double beds, a small galley kitchen %26amp; a living room that also had a murphy bed and sleeper sofa. I think it slept 8. Lots of stuff for kids %26amp; teens to do, our teens ages 13 %26amp; 16 didn%26#39;t want to leave!

I stayed at the Compass Cove from June 18th to the 22nd of 2005. If I can recommend anything--Don%26#39;t stay there. We were on the 14th floor and the only redeeming quality was the view. The rooms are filthy, the service is terrible, the whole hotel is undergoing construction so half of the pools are closed, the pools that are opened are dirty and you have to walk thru several construction zones to get to the pools. If you like to enjoy a drink, good luck because the bartenders at the tiki bar might wait on one of you but that%26#39;s it. I don%26#39;t think they like to wait on groups. The elevators that work are slow and smelly. Our room wasn%26#39;t ready until 30 minutes AFTER check in. We were supposed to stay for a week but ended up leaving 4 days early after walking up 14 flights of stairs and none of our 6 keys worked because the hotel shut them off! I had to go back down 14 flights of stairs to the front desk for new keys. We were trying to stick this place out and you shouldn%26#39;t have to do that on vacation. This place is horrible and hopefully you haven%26#39;t booked it yet. Try going a little further south to Litchfield. It is wonderful down there.
